The only coaches in the SEC that I would definitely consider to be better than Dooley are Spurrier (who's going to be gone soon), Mullen (who seems to be a horrific recruiter), and Saban. Richt is on his way out, Muschamp is a clown, Nutt has never won anything, Miles is an idiot, Petrino recruits prisons, and Joker and Franklin aren't really worth mentioning. I'm interested to see how Chizik does without a professional quarterback and Malzahn. I'm betting we'll see more of the guy who ran Iowa State into the ground.I wouldn't want Petrino within 300 miles of Knoxville.
I'm glad Miles isn't coaching in Knoxville too. Teams win in spite of his coaching, not because of it.
Chizik can keep his stupid ass in Auburn. He's surrounded himself with a bunch of jokes and one up and coming OC (that's a slimeball POS too).
Joker and James Franklin are jokes.
That's six.
I don't know if DD will ever win a SEC Championship here but I can guarantee he'll leave Knoxville in better shape for the next guy than the 6 other coaches leave their respective schools.
You're giving Muschamp a lot of praise without anything to really back it up too. He's going to clash with Weiss.

This is an amazing post. I think Richt has won a couple SEC Championships, Miles has an National Championship, as does Chizik, Petrino got Louisville to a top ten ranking...and you think Dooley is better? Based on what? That he's the coach at UT? "Nutt has never won anything"? What has Dooley ever won? He's only beaten one team with a winning record in 4 years of coaching.
The list of his failures are tremendous.
Let's start with baseball:
While it did not have any violations with the NCAA, many of us thought that it did. Mike Hamilton should be fired for scaring us like that.
Rod Delmonico had a plan to bring his team back despite scholarship reductions due to low APR. Hamilton only gave him 2 years to show improvement with the APR problem, and he should have given him more.
Todd Raleigh was told by Hamilton that he has to get to the CWS this season or it is his last season. That is too late. Raleigh should have been fired 2 years ago. Lots of people are clamoring for our top notch baseball job.
Basketball?
Buzz Peterson was a nice guy and was close to getting this thing turned around when he was fired. Alternatively, Buzz Peterson should have been fired earlier.
Bruce Pearl may have experienced some success here but he as a liar and a fink and Hamilton should have known that he would lie to the NCAA. After all, in 20 years of coaching he had to be in the top 90% of college coaches with several secondary violations accumulated at Wisconsin Milwaukee. Hamilton had to know Pearl was going to cheat on his wife and leave her, because Pearl told him that in the interview. After talking about favorite styles of ball, Pearl asked "Do you have any restaurants with hot waitresses? I want to get wasted and cheat on my wife now that I am getting paid well."
Football
Phillip Fulmer should still be the head coach. We know he was correct when he said that he would have won the SEC this last year if he was in place. Mike West and Thunder Thornton are the voices of reason in this deal. If we cannot have Fulmer, a man who played and coached at TN for decades unlike Hamilton who went to Clemson, as our head football coach where he should have stayed until he was Paterno's age, he should be AD.
Lane Kiffin! I told you all he would be trouble. I hated his opening press conference and I knew that Al Davis was right and that Kiffin was a liar. I also correctly predicted and so should have Hamilton that Bryce Brown would flame out and that Aaron Douglas would try to follow the life path of Eminem.
Derek Dooley? The man can only beat teams with losing records! He recruits only 3 star athletes because he cannot run with the big boys. Even if Dooley succeeds next season, Hamilton should be fired because Dooley was recommended by Muschamp, and like Grunfeld should get the credit for everything good Pearl does, Muschamp should get the credit for anything good that Dooley does.
Who care about buildings and who cares about profits? Hamilton can take his MBA and shove it. Fulmer is a wealth planner and he could easily run a $100 million dollar budget better than Mike. Everyone (or at least 2 or 3 programs nationally) experienced a surge in donations like TN has under Hamilton. The TV money means every team in the SEC is rolling in the dough. The ones that are losing money are doing it on purpose.
The arrests! Mike Hamilton has brought all kinds of disrepute to the TN name. We are in the spotlight in a negative way all the time because of Hamilton. Under Fulmer we never had player arrests. Dickey kept us out of the spotlight except when ESPN was touting our excellence. We never had scandals before Hamilton.
Finally the NCAA! We almost had major sanctions in football. We only avoided those because David Blackburn exerted herculean effort to save the athletic department. We also may avoid major sanctions in basketball, but that means that in two sports we have had an investigation! That almost resulted in major sanctions! I cannot believe that the idiots on the BOT and the boosters who have generated hundreds of millions of dollars in private wealth are so stupid that they continue to keep around such a weasel running our AD. Did I mention that he went to Clemson?
Richt is on his way out. Once Meyer and Saban joined the conference and Fulmer left, he's had little success. Miles is an idiot in a great position and Chizik relied on a professional quarterback/the NCAA making some garbage ruling to allow Cam to continue. Petrino is a scumbag and he's not going to win the conference. Nutt has never won anything and he's been in the SEC forever. That's a bad thing. This is an amazing post. I am fairly confident there isn't a poster in this thread that could last one day in Hamilton's job. Heck, most of you don't even have the first clue as to what his overall responsibilities are as an AD at a power school. Do any of you realize that the AD at a power school, even a guy like Foley at Florida, DOES NOT have unilateral power to hire and fire head coaches of their major revenue sports? Their job is to facilitate the process. Hamilton didn't make the decision to fire Fulmer nor did he make the decision to hire Kiffin. Those decisions are ultimately made by the boards of trustees, regents, etc. , at any of the big schools in the power conferences.
Make no mistake, Hamilton forgot more than ANY of you know about the manner and intricacies of how an athletic deparment works and would make you look silly in any converstion relating to university athletics.
Have a nice day
I mean, I don't know of anyone else who can hire both a football coach and a basketball coach, and manage to please both diehard Vol fans as well as the fans of all their rivals.
I don't know about you, but personally, I can't wait to see what this guy does next.
Force Pat Summitt into early retirement, so he can hire the fat girl from Facts of Life?Try to buy Kentucky out of the annual football match-up so Dooley can keep the streak alive?
Track down Fulmer and give him a few more million for his retirement?
Who can say? The only thing that's certain, is that most of this board will get behind him.

Mid-major is a term used in American Division I college sports, to refer to athletic conferences that are not among the major six conferences (the ACC, SEC, Big East, Big 10, Big 12, and Pac-10). While many believe the term "mid-major" was originally coined by the sports media in order to distinguish between BCS and non-BCS conference teams, it was actually coined in 1977 (more than two decades before the development of the BCS) by Jack Kvancz, head coach of Catholic University's mens basketball team.[1] Indeed, such a distinction is not officially acknowledged by the National Collegiate Athletics Association, nor does the NCAA use the terms "major" and "mid-major" to differentiate between Division I athletics conferences. “We did a thorough and exhaustive national search. On the basis of all the information we gathered and the candidates to which we spoke, I am convinced Mike Hamilton is the right man at the right time to be men’s athletic director at the University of Tennessee.”
