Is Muschamp that good? Why did he turn down ut then?

Someone mentioned why UT isn't as good as a job as either Florida or Alabama. Well, I think a lot of has to do with the state the program is at the time the job is taken. Muschamp probably didn't want to do the heavy lifting here...and whenever Saban finishes making history whomever he hands 'Bama to will not have to do too terribly much. Muschamp had great defensive talent with the Gators---he needed to develop the offensive skill players and so far this season I'd say he's succeeded at the same time he's winning too.

Hart has his hands full trying to get the administration turned around. Sounds like any coach would have their hands full.

no recruiting base in tn...not much left in the cupboard to build from....irrational fanbase...

at fla. he gets lucky with driscoll..aka sumlin and johnny football...and has the recruiting base in his backyard...probably still has the irrational fanbase but with a little luck and a few wins you see what happens...

hopefully. in the meantime no coach.

The jury is still out on Muschamp. Still glad we didn't hire him.

Y'all did so much better with Dooley, lol
The jury is in and Florida loves him. Not bad win the bowl game and then number 2 in the country. Not bad for two years.
How did kiffin work out?
How did Dooley work out

I expect the Gators to win the MNC next year, I expect Tennessee to win maybe 5-6 games with only one SEC win mixed into that. And you wouldn't have taken Muschamp. Liar, liar pants on fire

Hopefully they have learned from the past events. If they had made a real hire it might have been us playing for the NC or a BCS game. Hopefully this go round we get the right man.

Better get some more players while your at it. Playing in the SEC you won't cut it being one deep like the Vols are at this point. I think better game scheming might have y'all winning 2 more games last year.
If Dooley could have gotten deeper on certain areas he would have won more.
But to think with a different coach this year you could have gone to the MNC that's just either stupid or you are just learning the game

IIRC correctly, the rumor was that Muschamp wanted a $0 buyout clause for HC jobs at Georgia and Texas.

Hamilton would not agree - at least that is the rumor I heard.

He has no such clause at Florida so it must be rumor.
Also have seen on here that the reason was things were easier to fix at Florida think again that program was broke and Meyers admitted it when he left.
There is a good story by yahoo sports on Muschamp about when he sat down with each player to see if try are team players or just about themselves, several left because it was team or the highway. Bryan kuldip have never played another snap if he had quit on the Gators the way he quit in the Gator game, just saying

And with the gators waxing the noles on the road and the canes in complete disarray, he will have his way with recruits who want to stay at home. Florida is not going away anytime soon. I know as I live there and have to bare the pain every time I wear orange.

Put some blue on with the orange--people may not notice the shade of orange.

Can somebody do a list of 1.2.3. etc. of why ut isn't a nice job like uf or bama? We have an awesome stadium and fanbase. I mean what is being spread around the cfb coaching community about us?

Because our screwed up academic standards.

We are the brokest AD in the conference

We produce little in state talent

The previous staff apparently alienated the in state talent we had left after other schools raided it

Multiple HS coaches have gone on the record and said that they don't trust the program now. Even Kiffin developed relationships with these guys more than the worthless son did.

I usually don't know much on these stories, but on this one I do. Muschamp almost took the job, he came to Knoxville, sat down with Hambone, Hammy low-balled him, Muschamp had some strong demands and was worried about the possibility of rumors that Mack was going to retire. Hammy didn't pursue him strong enough, if he had thrown the truck at him, who knows where we'd be right now.

muschamp made the best choice because his career would be over if he came here. sad to say. and obviously if we have all these issues then he was right to have demands.
