Is Neal as fast as Todd Gurley

I think Neal is just as fast but plays slower.

He doesn't look near as explosive but it's hard to tell in the two videos. I just remember watching it live thinking that Neal's top speed was unimpressive. The defender almost caught him, though you could say it was a good angle. But it was AP defender...

The angle means a lot, dude. Neal is fast.

It seems like Neal is as fast or faster on his feet but not as big and forceful as Gurley. jmo

gurley caught the toss on the 18 yard line at the 2 second mark.

he's in the endzone at the 11 second mark.

he began coasting from about the 20 yard line in too

neal may have faster raw speed but Gurley has football speed. He runs fast with pads on. Gurley is just a better football player.

I don't know if Neals as fast as Gurley, but I do know he doesn't have the vision, cuts, and acceleration that Gurley possesses.

Gurley is damn good, I don't disrespect him at all. Having said that, I'd like to think our D will do significantly better against him this year than last.

Neal wants to evade tacklers, Gurley wants to step on their face on the way to the endzone. That's the difference.

Neal is fast as gurley, but his vision and ability to break tackles is no where near Gurley. Fade also makes a very good point.

Neal does not have break away speed, that I have seen. He runs very stiff and has an incredibly short stride. Not a natural runner by any means.

Neal is a bit of an enigma. He was in the group of top 10 RBs out of high school and highly recruited. He switched late from MSU and signed with UT. He apparently has good/great speed based on his times. But in games, he seems to slow down. He's the only player I've ever seen whose "game speed" seems to be slower than other players of his caliber. In games, he seems to be a slower, less powerful Travis Henry. Frustrating. Where's the Travis Stephens, Jay Graham, Chuck Webb when we need him? Can you imagine what any of those dudes would do behind this line?

Straight line and football speed are 2 different things. Neal has mad fast straight line speed but Gurley has that with the jukes/jives/shakes that makes him an elite SEC rb.

If Neal would use his power and take on tacklers he would be so much more complete. I think he fears fumbling so it is in his head to bounce it when he can.
