Every time I hear a talking head on Nashville radio address this subject, they say he's known in the coaching fraternity as someone who is difficult to work with. We've all heard the stories about what happened at UGA. But then there are these guys who know him who took jobs here. Probably, the truth lies somewhere in the middle.
We have become the OJT Mecca for football coaches! Dooley, Jones, Pruitt, ALL have come with “well, he has to learn on the job” my question is; “why”? Why can’t we hire established coaches? Why is this OC search turned into another fiasco? Why is the messaging so pathetic; and where is Fulmer, and is he and his head coach on the same page?
I think it has a lot to do with Pruitt’s loyalty to Will Friend. OCs want to bring their guys which is apparently why Briles and Pruitt couldn’t come to an understanding. Not to mention we had the worst OL in CFB last year. Pruitt is probably pointing at injuries and youth and lack of depth at the position, but regardless there is a lot to overcome when selling the OC position right now.Wanted to start a discussion that is going to tear some of your bowels up, so just find another thread if you need to. Based on reports of all of the interviews and the time frame of this OC search(41 days and counting) I think it's safe to assume that Pruitt has offered the OC to job to some of these OCs. My question is why are they turning the job down? We know the money is there, so why are these coaches choosing to go elsewhere over UT? I know this is going to infuriate the "nobody knows anything" nazis, but I say if the UT admin doesn't want speculation, they can leak some information, handle this in a timely manner, or deal with it. I was never on board with the Tyson Helton hire, but I still don't think he was anywhere near as bad as he appeared here. First time head coaches sometimes have trouble giving up control on the side of the ball that they aren't as familiar with. Dabo struggled with it when he first became a HC. What say you? Is that the case here? Is there another reason coaches are opting for other programs?
Same question that's been asked repeatedly on here..Dial it up all you want but hes nothing but a 1st year hc who is hard to work with. If he continues that he will not make it long.

To hear tell it he should still be looking for coaches for his initial staff if hes what some claim he is.
It dont add up.
People need to get off last year and realize that coaches talk and after one year as the head guy there is more to know about him.
I’m sure Helton thought he’d have control of the O and not have his boss demanding he do what he wanted.
He also went and hired friends that upgrade jobs last year. Either they were geting a title bump or were getting a shot at a bigger program. This year unknowns are now known and the fan base will also not be happy if he goes out and promotes another friend position coach to be his OC.
Now if your a proven decent OC why would you leave where you are to go work for a hard ass boss at a struggling program on a bigger national stage and not have complete control of the offense.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, look at UNLVs OC cause right now that’s where my money is. I doubt he will be CJP first choice but he’s someone that runs a lot and put up a top 25 rushing attack and he’s unknown enough that he’s be willing to cede complete control for the shot at a bigger stage. I think this is who CJP ends up with after people inside the program tell him hiring a position coach from else where or promoting within will put him on an extremely short leash with the fan base.
Sorry guys but we aren’t getting a proven top or even second tier OC.
Same question that's been asked repeatedly on here..
If he's so hard to work with, why did so many already familiar with him join his staff?
I'm not being argumentative, I truly haven't seen anyone answer this yet.
