Seriously, the dude will go down as one of the worst for sure. How many games would dooley have won this year if he had had a proper defense...2,3, more? I'd be willing to wager that he would still have his job. Since I firmly believe dooley needed to go, I guess sunseri was a blessing in disguise. Cool story to be sure.

Gets undeserved hate.

Just like Franklin in Auburn, had meddling head coaches and leftover staff members who didn't want to change the previous offense. You get a hybrid pile of junk.

It's a shame really. Franklin and Clawson go else where and rack up yardage.

History is too strong.. UT had some bad teams early on.. just check some of those early records

The circumstances yes. Why would you try a 3-4 defense in a survival year? With that said our corners are ridiculously slow and for a 3-4 Im not sure any coordinator running that defense could be successful.

Hamilton started this train wreck so i'd go with him, he hired a coach with an atrocious NFL record and then followed that up with a coach from a mid major with a losing record. I still don't know what Fulmer saw in Clawson, Richmond's offense was mediocre under Clawson the year before, if he'd hired Mike Debord (Michigan's OC), then Ryan Mallett would have followed him here, and Fulmer would probably still be here.

Hamilton by a landslide. We'll never really know about Clawson or maybe even Sunseri....we just know for certain that their new first year engines would'nt fly.

Dooley is the worst head football coach in UT history, so I figure that makes him a worse hire than the worst defensive coordinator in UT history. Also, Dooley sucked here for 3 years, Sunseri only sucked for one. And, given Dooley's history, even if Sunseri had been all right, Dooley still probably would have found another way to lose, just like he did with every assistant coach he had.

Hamilton v. Dooley is a more interesting debate. One could easily argue Hamilton did far more damage and thus, was a worse hire. But it's hard for him to equal the total and complete incompetence that Dooley demonstrated.
