Just based off the quote and pic. Everyone that I know is about as clueless as we are. They say that if he is gone then Stokes and Martin are the only 2 who knows and neither are talking about it. IMO he is gone

Stokes is looking for any reason he can to go pro. He's holding out hope that he will begin to see his name show up in the first round mocks.

I'm not even sure he's on 2nd round mocks.

No doubt he wants to go but unless he wants to learn a foreign language, he's staying.

From what I read here this could go either way but I am going to say he is staying until the VQ crew change their stance. Unless I missed it they are still thinking he is back.

So you're 99% sure he's gone because he posted a picture with his fiends that says "last week with my boys"...as already discussed the quote could easily be taken both ways, I've seen multiple pictures from these guys that says "last night with my boys"...but it wasn't actually their LAST night together.

Like I said JMO. And yes the quote comes out when no one know ls whether he is going or staying. It can be construde as both ways but since the other scholly has not opened up yet it makes it look like that this is where the other one is coming from

Many have said for about 6 months Landry won't make it to campus, so there's a scholarship. I've also heard Edwards is looking to transfer closer to home for his final year, so there's a scholarship. Not many saw the Yemi situation coming, so maybe someone else we don't expect transfers, there's a scholarship.

Like I said, not saying he's staying, just playing devils advocate. I don't know that anybody outside of Stokes and Martin know, and I don't even know how sure those 2 are.

I've been telling myself since the season ended that something would happen go screw up next season, as Vol fans it's just our luck. Didn't know if Maymon would never play again, McRae would go, or stokes would go...but I figured one of the three would happen, it's just our luck.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Fwiw just checked updated mock drafts, I haven't found one with Stokes going at all...so you have to figure the feedback He'a getting at best is late 2nd-undrafted...he comes back he can easily improve that.

In a make or break yr like Martin is facing he needs all the help he can get. Losing Stokes might be a fatal blow to Martin and his future as Mens Basketball coach. I hope not though

If Stokes goes pro, he's silly. No one has him remotely close to being drafted. He will no doubt be playing overseas if he doesn't pull his name out. Anyone that's ever taken basketball serious has dreams of playing in the NBA so I don't fault the guy for testing the waters but I just hope he has good people in his ear that help him realize this is a HUGE mistake.

No idea. If he was serious, he'd hire an agent. Didn't Tobias and Scotty hire agents pretty early after they declared? In fact, don't they usually have a list of candidates who are testing the waters and those that's hired agents? You usually see those floating around.

Man, I was looking at the 2013 "mock drafts" today, and it's sparse. I could see Stokes, with a really good work out, going in the first round.

There really is no "testing the waters" anymore. A guy used to be able to leave his name in the draft and not hire an agent. Then if he got drafted he could decide to hire and agent and go pro. If he didn't get drafted or didn't like where he was drafted, he could return to college (as long as no agent was hired). They don't let them do that anymore.

It's why I think he will be back. If he was going regardless, he would have declared already.

He's holding out hope that he will hear feedback that allows him to declare. It's not coming. He will be back. JMO.

I think if Stokes declares, then we will start to see his name penciled in some of the 2013 mock drafts instead of what has been expected the 2014 draft.

There's guys on those mocks who haven't declared. I don't think he's not listed because of class, I think it's because he's just not good enough...Patrick Brown from the Nooga (iirc), says he spoke with a NBA scout recently that said declaring would be the worst decision Stokes could ever make in his life, fwiw.

Adreian Payne is a projected mid second rounder, Jarnell dreams of being Adreian Payne. Guys like Hardaway Jr and Brandon Paul are at the bottom of the second round, IMO guys like that are way more appealing to a NBA GM than Stokes...they love athleticism and Stokes has very little.

There's a few more left, if they all announce they're returning Stokes may creep firmly into the late second round. The question he has to answer though is, is late 2nd round what he wants?
