Is Stokes Coming Back?

TIFWIW....some posters on VQ are saying Stokes wants to return, and has wanted to, but there was illegal contact with an agent and UT has been trying to figure out whether or not he'd be eligible, that is why it has dragged on.

Unless he signed with the agent, this, if true, should be fixable. Especially if the agent contacted him first, which is illegal.

What kind of contact?

All true but you can honestly say that Stokes would be better off going now than coming back? He'd have another year to dominate a college paint, work on freethrows and any other part of his game that would increase his value on draft day. He was horrible from the line this year and didn't dominate nearly as much as he's capable of. He'd have a chance to do that next season and look a lot better this time next year.

If his goal is strictly the NBA then he should come back bc I don't think he will be a first round pick.....but he can improve all those things in the pros......

I was talking about Stokes and not in general. Improving to be a 1st round pick is exactly what I meant. I didn't mean you don't improve at all as soon as you go pro. A dominating season in college would likely allow him more time to improve or at least show people what he can do instead of coming out early, being stuck on a D team or setting on the bench.

The only problem is that next yr will be so much tougher to sneak in

This seems to be the theme every year for every sport. Kind of reminds me of the old statement "the kids were just tougher in my day".

Or it could just be the thin draft class and the majority of the underclassmen staying one more season.

Oh I didn't know he pulled a Pearl. I just remember Bilas blasting NCAA several times this year over it.

"In most impermissible benefits situations, players usually are suspended from three to 10 games and ordered to repay the amount of the benefits received. In this case, the penalty was made more severe because Kabongo provided inaccurate information to NCAA investigators when he was interviewed, sources with ties to Texas' basketball program said."

Thats what I was meaning.....the agent paid for something for stokes if random rumor is.true......hopefully.it would be something small.

Ok. Like I said, provided he didn't sign with said agent, any wrongdoing should be reversible, provided he is forthcoming and honest with the information. He may have to sit a few games, but Stokes sans several games beats no Stokes at all.

Tennessee Basketball (@Vol_Hoops) tweeted at 4:16 PM on Fri, Apr 26, 2013:
Forward @JarnellStokes will hold a press conference on Saturday at 11 am to address his future intentions.

So, what's the word?
Sounds like I should assume he's gone, though he wouldn't be nearly the first athlete to hold a presser to say he's staying.

If he leaves, my expectations for 2013-14 will be to enter the SECT needing one win to have a good shot at the NCAAT and two wins to guarantee it, lose the first SECT game, and flame out early in the NIT. Anything better than that would be a nice surprise.
