Is the American Dream Dead?

Insanity isn't the issue. It's the senseless nature of the posts and follow on ridiculous condescension that I find ludicrous.

Addressing the biggest economic crisis since the Great Depression?

Addressing a Sixth Great Extinction event?

Addressing the loss of the lifeblood of the "industrial" economy (cheap oil)?

Addressing the "greatest market failure in history"?

Addressing trying to decrease the incidence of childhood cancer?

These are senseless issues to discuss? Pray tell, what is worthy of discussion?

The American Dream is nothing more than freedom. All this stuff about owning land, houses, cars, and everything else is BS. You buy what you can afford, live your life without being a slave to the lender, and you will be happy as a lark. If you don't do that, you will be fighting everyday with yourself to whether or not you can even fill up your gas tank without going broke. Live simple, and be happy, that's the American Dream to me.

still waiting for gibbs to provide us with a single example of a person, ANY person who has been forced to buy cheese doodles instead of strawberries.

Many generations have had it better than the current one. At least during WW2, Hitler was the undisputed enemy instead of the myriad of enemies, both internal and external that we face now. I would gladly sacrifice myself in defense of my country on Omaha Beach than I would in Iraq to find fictional WMD's. Good luck btw with your illiterate #1 RB, maybe Richt will be able to save his job by actually developing a player, but based on the last few years, UGA will be lookin for a new head coach soon.

To call an 18-year-old kid "illiterate" in a public forum is pretty low, IMHO. I guess UT only recruits "literates" like Nu'Keese Richardson. I don't know how you got from the topic that was being discussed to Richt and Crowell. Maybe a little jealousy? And if we do look for a new coach relax. It won't be Dooley, believe me.

if you think EO's post that you quoted was bad, you should have seen the one that was deleted by the mods.

still waiting for gibbs to answer the question that everybody is asking.

It doesn't change the fact that we are in a very precarious situation as a country. The massive debt we have taken on is unlike any in our country's history.

And I agree with his sentiments on our leaders. They're too busy bickering back and forth to actually get anything done. IMO, this country is far too fractured to really move forward economically. Both sides, democrats and republicans, tend to demonize the other as leading to the downfall of this country. Looks to me like they both have done a pretty good job of bringing us down.

Do you honestly believe that our govt will find a way to eliminate the trillions of dollars in debt it's responsible for?

We've ALWAYS been in a precarious situation. In the early development of the US it was disease, starvation, Indians, and the British.

Later it was civil war, etc. Then World Wars, Cold Wars, Vietnam, race riots, assassanations, etc.

We're always afraid of the boogie man. But I honestly believe that any generation of Americans would trade places with the current one. We have a higher standard of living. We just need to relax and enjoy it rather than waiting for the sky to fall. We'll all be dead one day. Don't spend your life worrying about it.

would de facto enforced aid understanding?

Answered long ago, MG.

Answered long ago, MG.

I don't think so. You got called on your BS and you backed away and then qualified your assertion by using "de facto".

The sad part is that you know you can't even prove "de facto enforcing".

You're a hypocrite, a liar and a fraud. I feel sorry for the people who support your lifestyle through their hard earned dollars.

I answered you long ago though. I didn't back away. To be sure, I had no idea you thought I was talking about physical coercion. It seemed obvious from the tenor of the thread, less nutritious food from the low quality s,c,w excess was far more readily available to the economic disadvantaged. De facto enforcement. Sorry for leaving out de facto before, but, as I said, I answered you long ago.

Who supports my lifestyle exactly?

the fools that pay you rent/the fools that pay for your patent.

fascinating how you don't mind capitalism as long as it puts money in your pocket.

Sigh.

Like I said, I could cut my health bill in half moving to Canada...

Lol. I don't remember posting some of these, but it's funny how my complete and total hatred of UGA is always so present.

Seems strange to me that you chose to stay in this country with all those utopia's available elsewhere.

"My mother was born in your state, Mr. Walter, and my mother was a Quaker, and my ancestors in the time of Washington baked bread for George Washington's troops when they crossed the Delaware, and my own father was a slave."

"My father was a slave, and my people died to build this country, and I am going to stay here, and have a part of it just like you. And no Fascist-minded people will drive me from it. Is that clear?"

-- Paul Robeson when asked why he just doesn't go to Liberia.

do you support repatriations as well

Ah, I love the whiny-woos. How many times a day do I get called something like idiot, whacko, blah, blah, blah? Does it affect me? It's a sports board, you are supposed to run a little smack!

The problem is, you have lost these debates. If it helps, call victory condescension. I don't mind ...

Or, you could join us in the supermajority. :hi:

Brilliant. Considering framing and sending your W to you as a gift.

Bad idea for the lost guy in the debate to declare greatness via condescension. That's a GW Bush trait.

Working to make these things real in your own country is fradulent?

I'm not sure I follow your logic.

The American dream isn't dead. People can have a good life here, I think people are little bit too focused on material possessions, that isn't going to bring long term happiness. I'm more concerned about the govt spending and entitlement programs these have to change.
