Is the best of Bruce yet to come?

Yeah, Marcus Camby was awful.

Calipari had players that matched his style which is all that really matters in college basketball. If you watch his Kentucky, Memphis, Nets, or UMass teams, none of them had an offense worth a crap. Defense is all about effort ... little coaching is involved with defense in terms of X's and O's. So, I still don't see your point.

Like I said, you can make deep runs in the tournament and not be a very good coach. Calipari is the epitome of that.

Camby is one player. It is not possible to argue Cal won at UMASS by out-talenting if you will the competition.

Your second paragraph is wrong in so many ways it's tough to know where to start.

Would rather win a national championship with Pearl five years from now than a NC next year with anyone else.

The man puts on for UT. I really can't understand how people dislike him as a person, especially those in Big Orange Country.

With the haters we have, our fanbase is probably top three dumbest in the nation.

Your first paragraph certainly is proof.

Perzactly! Cant put my finger on why some people just seem to hate Bruce Pearl.

I guess folks will always like to b*tch, stay miserable, and shake their fist at clouds all day long.

why do you care? Just put the few you dislike on ignore and enjoy the wonderful world UT basketball with Bruce.

I will never understand why the first threads after a big win are "Take that Bruce haters!" instead of "Great job UT bball!".

Granted, he's just one player. But he was the player of the year, and he's a big man. One player can carry a team in college basketball with the right players around them.

What is wrong in my second paragraph? If you think his offenses are things of beauty, you know nothing about this game.

You dont understand??? We just closed out the regular season 3-0, hoping for a 3 seed in the NCAA tourney, and have a top 5 recruiting class on the way....

...and there are fans on here raining on everyone's parade. It will always be this way with the legions of the miserable. That's why you see those threads... because you actually hate bruce pearl, the coach who will go down as the greatest men's bball coach in UT history, and it's OBVIOUS that you hate him. If and when we bow out in the second round or the Sweet 16 or even the Elite 8, the legions of the miserable will be there to b*tch, moan, and shake your fist at a cloud.

That's gotta be in the top 3 dumbest statements ever made on here.

Sneak peak at the Pearl haters next talking point after CBP makes the E8.

I'm just saying that you have to have superior talent to win a NC or even make a final four unless you're a superb coach. I'll be happy as can be if Pearl makes it deep in the tournament, but I won't be surprised at all when UT loses to a more disciplined team in the Round of 32.

if it's a legit criticism of the coaching then it makes sense. You can point out flaws and still enjoy UT bball

It makes sense to call out posters who support the coach rather than simply criticizing the coach?

How much sense does it make that after a big win, us "pearlophiles" are celebrating and numerous posters have to come in and share that regular season wins mean nothing and Pearl hasnt made it to the E8?

You're telling me you would FIRE Pearl and hire a guy who would win a NC next year rather than wait five years to win with Bruce???

most people are going to answer that they would make that trade

I have yet to actually see the thread title you listed. And you can also not respond to those posters

You could also ignore me, instead of inserting your opinion that added little to no value to a debate thread.

He wont ignore you. He will suspend or ban you. People who support Pearl seem to drop like flies around here. While hatvol, lawvol, etc can throw around personal insults 20 hours a day and never think twice.

Life aint fair.

Nope ... not joking. Cal is not a "coach" either. I would say that Pearl is actually a better coach than Cal, but Cal gets better players and talent. Neither one knows X's and O's very well at all. It's obvious. I'm not saying that it doesn't mean that they can have some teams that do well. Talent can mask a lot of other things including coaching ... up to a point.

Classic

I choose not to since I'm trying to figure out where your idea of me being a hater came from. It's obviously not based on anything I've said in a thread on VN. Quit assuming anyone who doesn't agree with you automatically hates the coach and you may enjoy it more

One, you said defense is not about X's and O's and just effort. That is 100% false. Effort is important in all facets however to act you simply guard your man and no coaching or strategy is involved is totally false.

Cal's offense is based off Vance Walberg's Attack, attack, skip, attack, attack or Dribble-Drive Motion. It is a 4 out 1 in motion offense that utilizes spacing, the three and the dribble drive.

The hardest thing in basketball is to guard the drive so the offense is designed to put constant pressure on the defense and refs because they are taught, in practice by using Rip Drills and Blood Drills to initiate contact with the defense trying to Rack it (layup), draw a foul, kick it out to the wing or trailing guard for a three or another drive or drop it to the weakside post.

In a true dribble drive mid-range jump shots a no-no because they have the lowest Point Per Possession. This is what the offense uses in many cases to determine what is a good shot for the team or specific player.

The highest PPP is a free-throw @ 1.4, Threes 1.2, layups 1.2 and the midrange is the lowest @ 0.7.

This is why the phrase three or the key is used in terms of what shot this offense wants.

If you would like for me to continue we can get in to the rules of the offense and what to do in the Rack Zone, Drop Zone, Quick Zone, T-Cuts, Gap Cuts, double and triple gaps, what makes a good kick back pass and other things.
