Is there any chance that Baron comes back? [Ole Miss]

I guess he can kiss the University of Tennessee after football networking opportunities goodbye ….. not only leaving for another SEC school….. but Ole Miss with Kiffin.

Exactly. Seems very short-sighted to me to permanently give up VFL status in his hometown. If I'm being blunt it seems really damn stupid. How much more is Ole Miss paying than Tennessee I wonder? Can't be worth more than decades of VFL status in Knoxville after his playing career.

I would have understood going NFL. I don't understand going to Ole Miss.

good morning from sunny florida. Quick comment/question: I assume Tyler Baron went to Ole Mess because they paid him more in NIL money???

"Good morning from sunny florida" gives you a strong serial killer vibe dude, have you checked in with your parole officer today? Are you more than 1000 feet from a school?

That's the thought of everyone. Apparently Baron tested the waters of a portal transfer last year, too. I don't know if we will ever know for sure if it was solely NIL related because I don't know if that information is made public.

I saw it report, I believe by the Volquest guys, that he was gone even if Tennessee matched the highest bidder.

I appreciate Tyler Baron, but this was best for all parties involved. He wanted to get paid, rightfully so. It also wasn't worth it for us to pay him the big money he wants.

We could throw a huge bag at him but what what cost? Not only is that money from a finite pot we have for players, that would mean Pearce, Josephs, and Baron are all back. Chandavian Bradley and Caleb Herring are not riding pine until they are juniors, bringing back baron could make those young uber talented guys look around and leave.

It wasn't worth paying baron a ton of money to be here one year and potentially run off younger super talented players that are ready to play with multiple years left.

We saved money we can use elsewhere, and we kept uber talented players with multiple years of eligibility on campus instead of keeping baron for one year. Us not having the money and us having it but it not being worth it for us to pay him are two different things. He is a good player, if he was great he would be going to the NFL.

I appreciate everything tyler baron and I don't blame him going elsewhere if they are willing to throw him big money. For us, it wasn't worth it. Best of luck to him.

I’m no longer at the “I wish the kid the best of luck” phase. It’s one thing when kids are told they’re going to be a 3rd string player and it may be in their best interest to look elsewhere for a better chance of playing time. But when starters just leave and it’s clearly motivated by money? That’s great, but I’m not wishing you any luck. Hope ole miss loses a bunch of games because of the tackles that Baron misses.

The facts are that the power dynamic has changed.

It used to be the school could recruit a better player over a guy and move him out.

Now the players can recruit a better NIL over our NIL and move on.

Like it or not, good for the goose, good for the gander.

Obviously he was a malcontent for some reason....maybe it was his relationship with someone on the staff, maybe it was his teammates, his NIL deal.....or maybe he just had a bad attitude and the staff didn't mind him him leaving.....who knows? There was definitely an issue

He's not lighting the league on fire with his 13.5 career sacks over 4 years of eligibility....

Not gonna rip the guy, he paid his dues here and has earned the right to move on to whatever else he wants to pursue.
