No one can change the past, but to judge any people, regardless of race, by the actions of the past is to damn every single one of us. Trace your way back through history and you will find a litany of sins committed by one race against another. It's not just a "white" thing.

I've heard your defense of the term racism before. Fine, you don't want to call it racism, let's just call it bigotry. Call it hatred of someone because they had the circumastance of being born with a different shade of skin. I really don't care what you call it, it's wrong.

As for Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson, they make their living playing on the racial divide in this country. They pretend they want to make it better, but their actions show otherwise. Whatever happenned to "I have a dream"? What happenned to being "judged by the content of your character and not the color of your skin"? MLK had to stir things up to get things moving, Sharpton and Jackson are now in a situation where they could have true dialogue to benefit this nation, but instead, they choose to fan the flames of racist cries and not advance the cause. The truth they won't admit is that if things become better, they become obsolete. This isn't the south of the '60's as much as some would like to believe. Greater progress has been made than most want to acknowledge. We don't live in a perfect world so bigotry will never be completely eliminated. But it accomplishes nothing to scream "racism" every time a white on black crime occurs.

Free speech bothers me very little. To claim that a white man won't get to heaven is bizarre however. I don't believe that at all. -- Plenty of folks commit sins. Sins don't make you a racist or white. While tracing my way through American History (as I am an American) it is full of racism and bigotry created and weilded by whites. -- Blacks were not racist, or bigots, or anything other than slaves. When that was ended prison labor quickly filled in the free labor void (like slavery never left). I contend blacks are neither racist or bigots. How do you know that blacks would have had race wide problems with whites if slavery (and the hardships created) never existed? I say you don't know that and it is silly to intimate such. Blacks very well could have gotten along just fine whites from the beginning. We never had the chance though. If blacks are upset at their treatment at the hands (and feet and whips and other things) of whites for the past couple hundred years, does that make them racist, or merely fed up? You can call it what you want. -- As for RJJ and RAS they are doing what they do. Start controversy and keep up ****. And they do it well. Are they "racist"? Hardly. They haven't committed any hate crimes that I know of. -- We have made progress in race relations in this country. Sadly though, a HUGE amount was needed, and we still have plenty more to go.

so all the blacks cutting th arms off other blacks in Africa right now and the raping and utter violence that goes on there daily is the white mans fault too, correct?

the tribes over there that kill other tribes simply because they are a different tribe...that's the white mans fault too, correct?

I mean it's all the white mans fault right?

Not "all", just the ones who controlled everything, so it just appeared to be all. If you keep a person as a slave, that is the very definition of a "problem". -- The UR does not even exist without whites indeed. It would not have been successful without them either. -- This is not a discussion all about slavery per se. After slavery ended (fortunately and not without struggle), the mind set of white America grew worse for a long period of time. Real freedom came for blackie around the time of the Vietnam war. -- True, you have no idea who you are walking up on (just ask TM). -- The simple truth is today's society and everything involved with race relations today has evolved during yester year, a racist time. --

All of the utter violence going on wolrdwide is not a problem of a certain race of people, and certainly not whites (most of whom have never been). Whenever you say something like that, you are saying something, just not what you thought you were saying. -- What ever the "white man" did is his fault. If he did not do something, why blame him for it arbitrarily? That would be wrong. -- The world would not be utopian. The Indians would be happy though. :)

So you disagree with the visions of MLK? He wanted a world of equality, not of hatred. He believed in seeing an individual, not the color of their skin. It's not about the past, it's about the future. Choosing to be shaped by the past is absurd when you can shape your future.
