Is there something going on internally?

I’m really trying to stay away from the conspiracy theories but I feel more and more like there’s some secret Alabama insider that purposely positioned Pruitt in the east to take down Kirby via recruiting while simultaneously ensuring we still suck and never rise to beat bama. What is a man to think after seeing that yesterday? You got 9 months to prep and get man handled by a community college (I kid I kid). Cmon now. Something is up!
Exactly. There is much more to the agenda of Jeremy Pruitt. People can complain all they want but if a change is going to take place, which it most likely will not, then they need to stop showing up for games. When the athletic department starts losing money, that is when change will happen. They still couldn't sell out tickets this year and every time a $5 dollar hot dog is not being sold, they are losing money. Now they are trying to make up for it and sell alcohol. If you go, don't buy it, but just don't go.

Tennessee does not lose money during the season with lost and reduced concession sales at the stadium.

Yep. Everyone is looking for some hidden reason for the result today, but the fact of the matter is that we just have a bunch of players that aren't very good. The youth on the team is much better than the older players but the just aren't ready yet. It's going to be another couple of years before we start to see things improve. Flip the damned roster as quickly as possible.
You do understand that we were playing Georgia State? As in went 2-10 last year, didn't have a football program ten years ago, that Georgia State? There is never, ever, ever an excuse for the Tennessee Vols to ever lose to a Sunbelt team, under any circumstance short of an away game and the team plane crashed on the way to the game. We should be able to field nothing but freshmen on both sides of the ball and still win going away.

Just for reference: a guy named Derek Dooley was widely considered when he was fired to be the worst coach this program had ever had in over 100 years, and he still walloped the creampuffs every year. I remember those games distinctly because we all would think we had turned the corner, and then we would get into the SEC schedule and come crashing back to earth.

Since Pruitt’s halftime comments during the Alabama game, Tennessee has looked like straight garbage and has been outscored 179-129. This probably is a moot point however, because Tennessee looked like straight garbage in the weeks leading up to that comment too

The possibility that CJP's comments about needing better players offending 50%-75% of the team must be considered. Maybe that's why there is only minimum effort.

Rumor is that Pruitt doesn’t really want to be here and may be regretting that he took the job in the first place. Apparently his wife does not like it here and would like their family to go back to Alabama as soon as possible. Pruitt has also rubbed a lot of the assistants and players the wrong way. We started to really see the lack of passion during the Vandy game last year with a bowl on the line. The players didn’t want another month of practices. Then we saw that carry over into the game today. Don’t be surprised if Pruitt doesn’t last past this season. He’s realized that head coaching isn’t for him, and likely would be more than happy to go back to being a DC.
I can’t believe Chaney would come to Tennessee if he were aware of this. Coaches talk. I doubt that level of malcontent could be covered up amongst coaching circles, imo. Not saying this isn’t a monumental cluster F but I think the issues are mainly amongst the players not wanting to play for Pruitt.

Honestly, I don't know why everybody thought we would be better this year. Most players take 3 years to develop. They play for 5 and never see the field or even dress out as true freshman. The big lineman take time to build and skilled positions have a lot to gain in strength and learning the schemes. I thought we would be worse this year, but with an easier schedule we would make a bowl. Reasonable expectations are that we win 1 more game every year and steadily get better. I do think JG needs to go. He is just always one yard short and only throws to wide-open receivers. He must do great in practice, but he just doesn't have "it". The ability to see a play and make a play out of nothing is just not his forte!
Your post makes no sense when juxtaposed with the football events of yesterday. You talk about "steadily getting better?"

Our last three games? How badly were we outscored by Vandy Missouri and GAST?

Pruitt will knock off Georgia this year. He will have two weeks to prepare for the game.
They have two weeks also. In any event, this is the pipe dream of pipe dreams, our DL got pushed around by a bad Sunbelt team's OL. Georgia's OL averages like 6'5", 330. They won't ever have to ever throw a pass if they don't want to. They ran for over 300 last night and averaged 8 yards a carry with Vandy stacking the box and Vandy played with a lot more heart than we did.

I have said from day one when we didn't get commitments from players he was used to getting or one like he coached at bama, his time here would be numbered. He'd see this as a sh*t show and find a way out

Besides the thing with Quart'e Sapp, I also remember these weird and awkward notes from Pruitt's first season:

1. Calling-out the fans after the O&W game -- a little early to be lecturing when you haven't proven anything as a new head coach.
2. Firing the long-time team surgeons with no real explanation -- his privilege as the head coach, but weird.
3. Pointing-out that only 28% of the team's preseason roster had started more than one game -- lowering expectations.
4. The disappointing trajectory of J.J. Peterson, the crown jewel in his first signing class.
5. Blamed the WVU loss on the players not executing the coaches' great play-calling in the second-half.
6. When asked by a sideline reporter if he learned anything from the weather delay vs WVU that helped him with the delay vs ETSU, he said "I don't know about me, but I hope the team did."
7. Compared the team to his 3 year-old after the UTEP game.
Our players are human beings, if they perceive that he doesn't care about them, has given up on them, and is just biding his time until he can get their replacements on campus, why wouldn't they give up them? It's speculation granted, but it's the only thing that would fit what I saw yesterday, i.e., a Tennessee team inexplicably mailing it in during their first game. It looked like they didn't have any interest in fighting for him. It was very reminiscent of the Missouri and Vandy games last year and it was night and day compared to the effort the GSU players were giving their second year coach or the effort the Georgia Tech players gave first year coach Geoff Collins the other night, despite the beatdown. If you can't inspire people to fight and give their all it doesn't matter how good a X and O guy or recruiter you are.

Yeah, it’s just what I heard from a former player, so who knows how much of it is true. He told me this about a month before the season, and I just brushed it off as an unfounded rumor. But after this game, it does make me wonder.

Because they confuse what they want to happen with what is most likely to happen. Some folks can’t bring themselves to ever realize bad news is coming.

“I like Tennessee football. Therefore, I think they will improve.”

Reality is every team gets to recruit and have preseason practices in an attempt to get better. And when your team is consistently finishing middle of the pack in recruiting in your conference, regardless of their national ranking, they’re not going to be able to compete long term for a title.

“I’m a (fill in a major political party). Therefore, they will win the next election.”

I completely believe that there’s a fracture between players and staff. Completely believe that a malcontent player might say it’s not only the players but also the staff.

What did he do?
Reportedly, Pruitt and Richt didn't see eye to eye. As I remember, Pruitt promised an indoor practice facility when richt had been unable to get the administration to buy in. He was also reported to feel that richt had lost control and the respect of some players, which was true, but as an assistant, you don't s'posed to bite the hand that feeds ya. His track record is that he's been a good DC. Time will tell if he can do what he needs to do to be a good head coach.

Whatever it is, Pruitt and this staff are getting paid millions of $$$ to correct it.

They better get their sh!t together very, very, soon!!

They need to earn their damn keep!!
