Is this a tweet from one of our players laughing?

It’s crazy to even think about letting a coach go in the current scenario UT finds itself. To say he’s now under a big microscope, however, is justified.

The dude could absolutely turn this program around or he may not, but here’s a couple reasons even mentioning during is absurd:

1) 13 games isnt enough rope to give a guy who walked into this dumpster fire

2) Other coaches wouldn’t touch this program knowing they’d get the same treatment...not to mention there wasn’t too many willing to take it before

3) You’d all but guarantee recruiting for next year would be a disaster and with the current roster you’d be set up for another 3+ years of cellar dwelling.

Firing a guy Game 1 of Year 2 is absurd and people really need to stop talking about it. This makes the fan base and program seem ignorant. He may not be the guy but nobody can possibly know that at this juncture.

Losing 5 games by 25 points, getting killed by candy and Missouri and getting dominated by a school that has only had a football program for a decade is enough for me to see..that's not counting all this extra curricular crap

So? There is still no rational or logical reason to fire him now. At the end of this season? Quite possibly. For all we know Fulmer is already thinking about it. But think about something, when we talk about guys on this team who look good, most of the time its Pruitts guys. The young ones.

I am not saying he will turn us around but its not out of the realm of possibility.
If we beat BYU this chatter will goo away

Yep...flip this roster as fast as you can. For fans thinking that a coach can give some rah, rah speech and turn any player into someone who gives a damn and will bust his butt for his school and team is being delusional. We have to depend on players like this because we simply don't have talented players with the experience to help us right now. When Pruitt graduates his first class, that's when I'll judge the man. If he's still lacking at that point, I'm all in for a replacement. Until then he's trying to fight a war with soldiers who don't really care.
Then don’t start the players who don’t care. I would rather have 11 Colton Jumpers playing, and we lose, then this ****. For three straight games we have fielded a team who looked like they didn’t give a crap. Come out publicly and say I am playing those who want to win. Regardless of talent. That would send a message, make the fan base understand what’s happening, and not hurt recruiting. Instead it’s what we have seen the last three times we took the field.

You and others like you calling for a decent coach to be fired aren't true Vol fans in my book. There's not a coach in this country who could come in here and do any better than what Pruitt's done so far. He's a true players coach and has put players in the league as of late. He was hired by another former Vol who also has put a few players in the league himself so I'm sure these two are well aware of what's going on and I'm also sure the current situation or any subsequent situations that may arise will be handled with the best interest of the university in mind. Jeremy is a genuine, caring, man and football coach who shoots straight and I'm proud to have him as the coach of the Vols. He recruited well in his 1st year,(2019), because in '18 he didn't recruit the full class and he appears to be on track to have yet another fine class in 2020. Because of his way of telling it like it is and the rest of the staff he's surrounded by UT is appearing to be an attractive school to many above average high school athletes. Contrary to what I've read the past few days, I doubt very seriously that coach Pruitt hates Tennessee simply because he attended and played football at Alabama. I think a true UT Vol fan would show some appreciation and respect toward our football coach. Also i'm certain that he's well aware of any shortcomings he may currently have due to being a head coach for slightly more than a year now and he is surrounded by many who know this business much better than we who are there to assist him. I ask that you picture this headline in your local paper "Pruitt resigns as head coach of Tennessee Volunteers." He's already stated his intentions that he's totally aware of the tradition at this fine university and he plans to restore that tradition. He's not a man of words but seemingly more a man of action and by all signs he's heading in the proper direction because 1st, you get the athlete to attend the university and get an education and 2nd you train and develop the athlete to fit and play within your system. I'm certain he knew the challenges prior to accepting the job and many on VN or those that follow the Vols also knew that the situation was far less than ideal. I've followed these Vols now for 54 years and felt that D.Dickey was a good coach in my early years of following and there's something about Pruitt's demeanor that makes me feel this might be the guy to coach these Vols. I still feel that way and know that this rebuild will require some time to get good depth across the board and train these athletes in the proper manner. There's inevitably going to be a few highs and lows in this process. Here's to hoping that coach Pruitt possesses the thick skin required to endure the verbal criticisms that are currently being directed his way as well as those yet to come. As far as that resignation think about it because i can assure you that those would be the toughest of times in case you're thinking it's bad now and it's much healthier to view the positive side of this rebuild. Which I hope is going well but we'll find out more each week.
man we older guys cringe when we see post like these then move on..double spacing does help

Yea , someone just walked into your own house and pimp smacked you in the mouth , and you think it's funny .......... I'm lost for words . Ask inky Johnson , Al wilson , Peyton Manning and some other VFL'S if the find it humoring

This would go a very long way

The problem is the longer you stick with a guy that you know is not the solution the more mired in the mud you become. People try to talk us into keeping Butch Jones. If we had cut loose a little sooner maybe we would be better off now. Same thing with Pruitt. I know we're not going to fire him right now. But if you know he's not the guy and there is no evidence at all to support that he even might remotely be, then what is the advantage of holding on to him.

I'd hate to see the punishment you'd take from a lot of this "fan base" for playing eleven Colton Jumpers, but I do agree with you. My real take on the whole mess as far as coaching is they spent too much time looking for players and too little time putting a team together and making it work like a team. Nobody seemed to understand his position and how it related to the rest of the team ... sometimes, not even where his position was.

Spring should probably be about developing and finding players, and fall about practicing as a set team, but I guess that's impossible with promising freshmen coming in during the fall. I think I prefer the old way when freshmen couldn't play on the team.

I'd like to add that they probably thought they could implement that during the game time this week and treat it as a scrimmage per say. It obviously backfired on them. I expect a much better showing this Saturday. After watching the press conference today I know alot of people were asking for more emotion but honestly that's just the way he is

I've made enough screw ups in my life to appreciate the power of forgiveness. I'm lucky, I guess, that it was none of you I needed forgiveness from. The young man messed up. Hopefully he atones for that mistake by playing his ass off for us.

I’m not going to judge the whole team off the tweet of one player but the leaders of this team (if there are any) need to have a players only meeting ASAP to figure out who wants to be there and who doesn’t. I would have thought Pruitt and Staff were smart enough to sniff out the ones that don’t want to be here and send them on their way, no matter how important they are to the team. But clearly it’s still an issue. Maybe they don’t have the cold calculation of Nick Saban, who’s a coaching cyborg without emotion when it comes to this. But something needs to be figured out and soon.

This is a good point. Usually when a new coach takes over, he runs off the players he doesn't think fit or who don't buy in (usually 15 or so within the first year). Pruitt hasn't had much attrition at all. Maybe he should have had more.

He needs to atone for it by grilling up the best damn hamburgers we ever ate. Let him figure out what working for minimum wage is like, so he gets some perspective.

Haha. What a take? Dude. They don't care. And if they did, it wouldn't matter cause sackless, but sacked Guarantano CANNOT throw passes to playmakers like Jordan Murphy, whether he wants to or not. LOL. You just fantasized the most ridiculous blissfully naive scene imaginable. Are you twelve?

"Trey and Jauan will do our overpaid but inept coaching staff's job, and save us from the badman."

Trey has to spend too much time getting his health right to do that. And Jauan is just trying to not rock the boat.
