You and others like you calling for a decent coach to be fired aren't true Vol fans in my book. There's not a coach in this country who could come in here and do any better than what Pruitt's done so far. He's a true players coach and has put players in the league as of late. He was hired by another former Vol who also has put a few players in the league himself so I'm sure these two are well aware of what's going on and I'm also sure the current situation or any subsequent situations that may arise will be handled with the best interest of the university in mind. Jeremy is a genuine, caring, man and football coach who shoots straight and I'm proud to have him as the coach of the Vols. He recruited well in his 1st year,(2019), because in '18 he didn't recruit the full class and he appears to be on track to have yet another fine class in 2020. Because of his way of telling it like it is and the rest of the staff he's surrounded by UT is appearing to be an attractive school to many above average high school athletes. Contrary to what I've read the past few days, I doubt very seriously that coach Pruitt hates Tennessee simply because he attended and played football at Alabama. I think a true UT Vol fan would show some appreciation and respect toward our football coach. Also i'm certain that he's well aware of any shortcomings he may currently have due to being a head coach for slightly more than a year now and he is surrounded by many who know this business much better than we who are there to assist him. I ask that you picture this headline in your local paper "Pruitt resigns as head coach of Tennessee Volunteers." He's already stated his intentions that he's totally aware of the tradition at this fine university and he plans to restore that tradition. He's not a man of words but seemingly more a man of action and by all signs he's heading in the proper direction because 1st, you get the athlete to attend the university and get an education and 2nd you train and develop the athlete to fit and play within your system. I'm certain he knew the challenges prior to accepting the job and many on VN or those that follow the Vols also knew that the situation was far less than ideal. I've followed these Vols now for 54 years and felt that D.Dickey was a good coach in my early years of following and there's something about Pruitt's demeanor that makes me feel this might be the guy to coach these Vols. I still feel that way and know that this rebuild will require some time to get good depth across the board and train these athletes in the proper manner. There's inevitably going to be a few highs and lows in this process. Here's to hoping that coach Pruitt possesses the thick skin required to endure the verbal criticisms that are currently being directed his way as well as those yet to come. As far as that resignation think about it because i can assure you that those would be the toughest of times in case you're thinking it's bad now and it's much healthier to view the positive side of this rebuild. Which I hope is going well but we'll find out more each week.
