Is this true? Justine transferring

I’ve been part of the interviewing process and I can assure you the University where the degreed interviewee comes from is considered highly! A degree from UT will be looked at differently than one from Vanderbilt, Stanford, Duke. , or M.T.S.U. and Chattanooga! It’s just common sense!

If that is what you’re basing hiring decisions on, you’re doing it wrong. Promise.

It will fade … prolly won’t get deleted for purposes of “receipts” !

It may become relevant and get bumped when we play them, or if she does particularly well or particularly poorly in the future.

We always want to trade up, so people will look at how Spear or whoever is coming on board does in comparison. That seems reasonable.

Absolutely. Once it’s on the webz it’s forever…. Unless you change your platform to coral…. 😂

Well, bummed at the news. I think Justine will.blossom and be a solid player for Vandy. Impact player? We'll see soon enough as well as seeing how Ralph can develop talented athletes.

I had high hopes for Justine. The news was softened by the announcement that Jewel has committed. Win some; lose some.

I hate that Justine didn’t have a window to develop. Coming in a year earlier would have changed her trajectory.

For entry level jobs. After that, you're responsible for proving your worth.

Where you go to school has very little to do with your salary. That’s all up to you.
That’s not entirely true. All things equal in career fields, HR will pass over more resumes from lower and lesser known schools and elevate a Vanderbilt degree with more interest.

Huh, you saying she needed another year? or too much Competition? other?
hate to lose a 6'4" player who was so highly rated.

I did hiring for entry level professional job for over 10 years. I quickly learned that just relying primarily on how a person interviews WAS NOT a very good indication of how hard, reliable, or dedicated the person would be. The interview basically shows how articulate they were and how well they could think on their feet and an indication of their personality(talkative/shy etc.). The resume showed their experience, their activities while in school (if any) and maybe if they were job hoppers and would give us something to talk about in more detail. Their education was also an indication for me of their potential. Did they make good grades at a tough college while working part time or did they barely pass at a lesser school while not doing anything of note.
Basically you need to look at the whole picture (including what college they attended) when making a selection. At least for an entry level professional job IMO.

Agreed. Focus should definitely be on the candidate, not only on the resume.

Resume is fine it tells what you've done. But what's the difference in a Vandy MBA and an mtsu MBA? To me, nothing except the Vandy guy might be a spoiled, entitled brat.

the big fish in little pond approach

Yeah, I think she will do a lot better there. If, she is more the center of attention and counted on. Some people just have more confidence and rise to the occasion if they are looked too and at UT she was just another player. I noticed her at the McD All star and my assessment was if she thinks others are as good or better she defers or is not demanding the ball. I think she needed to be at a place like Vandy or maybe even a lesser conference where she could be real good stat wise but not enough to carry a team like Vandy in the SEC. I'll be pulling for her sans Vol games.

Pissot reunited with an old teammate of hers, so I'm guessing that had something to do with her choosing of Candy. Regardless I hope for the best of her. Wish she could have gave it one more year but I think this was something she wanted to do regardless of playing time. She was sure to get more playing time this year and she hasn't been over recruited so this is the only logic explanation

Tell me you have no understanding of education economics without telling me you have no understanding of education economics...

Hi, Darthie! Doesn’t that depend on where in the employment process one is? First time hires the school and GPA can really impact; after working a few years it is very much on you: technical/job abilities, ability to supervise (hubby always said you got paid to manage people), team player - if applicable, independent worker, creativity, so much specific to the different jobs. And I have seen co-ops get first time hire preference over others due to proven ability. The degree definitely can open the first door, after that, “what have you done lately”. One of the best engineers I ever knew came out of Tennessee Tech and a genius CPA from a small church school. Two of the best I ever knew; the CPA was the best! Now be nice if you respond😌.

could the MTSU grad get into Vandy? MTSU benefits by applications being rejected from the University of Tennessee.
