Plenty of short(er) range stuff, but not heavy assets like the B-52 or B-1B. The PLAAF might not be the most modern, but dropping iron bombs wouldn't require much sophistication and their older designs would work fine.

And there's plenty of air bases outside of the ISIS controlled regions they could stage from. And of course, that comes with security and infrastructure. And a secure supply line from Um Qasr or Basra to said air base, port facilities...

If China goes in, it won't be in limited numbers. Something I'm sure both the Iraqi and Chinese Governments are considering.

Lets entertain the idea that ISIS really does have a dirty bomb... would they use it in Syria/Iraq or the occupied Golan Heights?

If you had to put money on it... where would be the most likely place for them to use it?

If I put money on it? Nowhere. Israel invites, practically begs, retaliation and nobody in the ME would stop them. The US? Again, invites public condemnation and retaliation. Russia? You think they are that stupid? Iran? Nope. Europe? Likely not as they will fall either into the US or Russian sphere of influence.

Not a lot of places out there. And the psychological edge of them having it is just as bad as if they did.

This isn't a nuke. Dirty bombs are easy to build and employ. See chlorine IEDs in Iraq or look back further to the Tokyo Satin attack in the 90s. The material ISIS possess (Mustard, satin, VX) just needs to be dispersed in and aersol format (artillery shell, rocket, crop sprayer) to be effective. Considering quite a bit of ISIS is made up of ex-Iraqi (Sadaam era) and ex-Syrian military officers, it is not a stretch to think that they are not capable. Employment considerations (2nd and 3rd order effects) are the only thing reigning them in. They are not a bunch of third world jihadist. These guys are more cold, cunning, and calculating that Al Qaeda. Heck they way they attack cities screams of military precision. They just don't have the equipment and air dominance to be able to retain terrain.

There is a big gulf between dirty bombs and nukes. Aerial dispersal is easy, harnessing the power of nuclear fusion or fisson is not. If it was, a lot more countries would have them.

Disagree to an extent. Building a bomb capable of fission or fusion or even a multistage weapons is not hard.

Getting the proper materials to do so is the trick.
