Israel vs Palestinians

If he's smart he helps get hostages released. Then supports Israel in taking all of Gaza and ending this nonsense.
Only way. Any hell unleashed is an assurance the hostages die. Or more than already have. Get them or their remains out then hunt them like dogs. Looks like Israel is giving in.

It takes something that directly affects many people to change their minds. I am glad for some of the Jewish folk in New York and everywhere changing their minds this time.
I just don't trust these leftists. Their beliefs are to entrenched to change this easily. I'll believe it after the next election, but liberalism is a mental disease and they are nowhere near cured. By the same token. NY is a **** hole that I will never again step foot within, so they can do whatever they want up there and I couldn't care less.

Cant wait til this little skirmish is finally over. Israel can bulldoze the rubble and expand Israel ever so slightly westward so that it will finally be..."from the river to the sea."
I bet theres gonna be some nice beachfront hotels on the Jewish Riviera.
Seems like all these weird fantasies are about to go up in smoke

I'm sure someone has already discussed this but Joe Biden said his administration is on the verge of an agreement. I just think that is malarkey. Yeah there is an agreement on the horizon, but I think it's more due to Trump. The Biden Administration know this so they want to make sure they get credit for something they didn't or couldn't do.

Biden probably deserves some credit, which I will not give him.

I think Trump deserves a lot of credit for the hostage release but not sure on the ceasefire....as far as I/we know, Hamas didn't have to agree to a ceasefire to appease Trump. All they had to do was give up their American hostages.

I'm just glad they get a breather and hopefully it lasts.

And the real winner is the American people, because we would have been ****ed if Hamas called Trump on it and he wasn't bluffing. Absolutely ****ed.

Obviously the ceasefire and hostage release are tied at the hip. So if he deserves credit for one, he deserves credit for both.

Biden’s response (lack of one) to American hostages in Gaza has been beyond pathetic. These people could’ve easily been home a year ago.

Given Biden is so incoherent that his wife is now doing interviews for him, it’s nearly impossible to give the man credit for anything

I agree with the last part. I’m sick of paying for wars around the world. Often both sides.
I’m ok with splitting credit. It doesn’t really matter much.

My question is ….how long do you think the ceasefire will last?

My question is ….how long do you think the ceasefire will last?
From the details I'm seeing, I'll be surprised if it makes it through the 1st phase.

I lifted this from a reddit post on r/worldnews
Only the first stage has been fully agreed to (with ratification pending):
* First stage is 42 days
* Hostage-Prisoner exchange
* Palestinian groups will release 33 Israeli hostages.
* Priority order: female civilians, then female soldiers, then men who are over 50, and men who are infirm. Living hostages first.
* By the end of the phase, all living women, children and older people held by the militants should be freed.
* On the first official day of the ceasefire, Hamas is to free three hostages, then another four on the seventh day. After that, it will make weekly releases in groups.
* Israel will release about 2,000 Palestinian prisoners, including 250 serving life sentences. No prisoners who took part in Oct 7 would be freed. Most are Gazans detained since Oct 7. Need to work out exactly which prisoners will be sent to a third country: all of those life sentences will, but perhaps others as well.
* IDF locations
* Israeli forces will begin to pull back from Gaza’s border with Egypt, known as the Philadelphi Corridor, to withdraw from it completely in later stages. But Israel intends to maintain a buffer zone in Gaza.
* Extent of the Israeli military’s continued presence in the Netzarim Corridor, an east-west passage dividing the enclave, remained unclear
* The Israeli military will withdraw to within 700 metres (2,297 feet) inside Gaza.
* Israel would agree to allow hundreds of thousands of Palestinian civilians who have fled Israel’s bombardment in the south of Gaza to return to their homes in the north as long as unspecified security measures are in place.
* Israel will allow injured people in Gaza to travel to receive medical treatment.
* Israel will open the Rafah crossing with Egypt seven days after the start of the first stage.

Future Stages, which have not been fully agreed to:

* Second stage (days 43-84):
* Other remaining hostages and Israeli soldiers being held captive by Hamas would be released
* Hamas frees remaining male hostages (soldiers and civilians) in exchange for a yet-to-be-negotiated number of Palestinian prisoners
* full withdrawal of Israeli troops from the Gaza Strip
* Bodies of deceased Israeli hostages exchanged for bodies of deceased
Palestinian fighters
* Implementation of a reconstruction plan in Gaza
* Border crossings for movement in and out of Gaza are reopened
* ~~Third stage (days 85+):~~ Update: The current deal comprises just two phases and doesn’t include written U.S. guarantees that would prevent Israel from resuming military operations after 42 days.
* ~~Bodies of deceased Israeli hostages exchanged for bodies of deceased Palestinian fighters~~
* ~~Implementation of a reconstruction plan in Gaza~~
* ~~Border crossings for movement in and out of Gaza are reopened~~

It lasts long enough for Hamas to resupply and rearm.

Given that people are still stuck in Afghanistan as best we can tell I doubt the Biden Administration all of a sudden grew a set or didn't still have the same naive policy positions.

Doesn't look good right now. Turns out the powers that be in Israel may not have enough support...... But as others have stated even if this peace begins it won't last long.
