Italy Elects Giorgia Meloni As New Prime Minister In Stunning Victory For Feminism Everywhere

The GOP is who I have issues with. Trump was a largely ineffectual President. He passed some tax cuts for his cronies, talked a big game on diplomacy that was immediately reversed the moment saner hands were back in appointed office. He did rile up a crowd though. He will be remembered for 1/6 and nothing more.
My comment wasn’t meant to start a convo on trump and what he is remembered….. he was just the last Republican president…. What has the GOP put into effect that you don’t like or agree with?

Yes, you have a freedom from religion. We should have the freedom of association too.
Not sure that I've seen anyone saying you can't do otherwise, including me. I would like to not have self-described Christian Nationalists trying to dictate national policy based on what they heard from the pulpit, though.

And we are soooo much better off now.

I fundamentally disagree with every social policy the GOP has floated, proposed, and talked about for the last several years. It would be faster to talk about what they don't support.

Understandable and I don’t want socialists dictating national policy based on what they read in Marx’s book. The best solution is to dilute the power of the federal government to the point neither can really impact the lives of the average person.

Well tell them to back off my friend, and I will do the same.

The only things Presidents have been able to do in the last 30+ years is bomb other countries and kill people with no real objective(s), and allow invaders across the borders.

None of these people are doing any good. However, with that said.... there is one President were the bombing of people for no reason and interfering with other countries slowed down considerable.

GOP is nothing but a different side of the same coin, you going on and on about the GOP is actually what they want.

I agree with that but the only thing that matters is what is actually done…. I feel like more of the Dems bad ideas are becoming policy and/or influencing society.

Pretty simple: I don't trust her. I don't trust any right-wing politician at the moment. Examples:

I watched three conservative SCOTUS Justices swear under oath that Roe was settled precedent: a lie.

Then watched the GOP claim that was a state's rights issue, and not two weeks later floated a national ban: another lie.

Then heard the GOP say they weren't coming after contraception, interracial marriage, or LGBT marriage: yet another lie. (Read Thomas's comments on Dodd, and the numerous GOP politicians that have commented post-Dodd)

Pardon me for not believing American conservatives and far-right politicians like Meloni, Orban, or Putin lately. They haven't given me a reason to do so. I also have a hard time trusting a pol that idolizes Mussolini, but that's just me.

And you trust Left-Wingers??? Riiiighhhhttt....

Why are you blaming the entire GOP for what Lindsey Graham did? The GOP leader of the Senate (and many others in the party) condemned it and said they would not support it.

The GOP is not coming after interracial marriage and contraception. They're not. You're seeing ghosts

I can agree on the firearm restriction part, but the rest not so much. The whole "wrongthink" thing is bs. Have you been on Twitter lately? You can basically post what you want if you don't threaten to kill somebody lol. There was never a nationwide vaccine or mask mandate. And school choice should be rejected on the public level. If you want to send your kids to a Christian school, you can pay for it. They should not get a dime from federal, state, or local funding. Not sure what ESG is.

In reading your list you include things that are not R platform issues but may have been expressed by some in the party. Take banning contraception for an example. I'd also disagree with your characterization of voting rights to name two. I also don't see a concerted effort to ban gay marriage by the party.

So matching you listing of things that some person in the R party advocated, I also included things that D party members have stated as positions.

Other notes:

ESG is a focus on Environmental, Social and Governance as it relates to corporate actions. There is a push to have the SEC require companies to report ESG efforts (which are largely defined by left principles on those 3 topics). Just one more example of using the regulatory scheme to enact party favored values.

Twitter is not the government but there are laws being enacted to punish people for using the wrong pronoun (just one example of punishing wrong think)

I agree; however, genuinely religious people generally take their religion seriously. Biden and several other politicians have been threatened with excommunication and barred from communion because of political stances. That's interference, and it's wrong. To me freedom of and freedom from religion means that religions keep their damn hands off, too. If not, they lose their exempt status. And I've never understood why we continue to treat the vatican (and by extension the catholic church) as a state.

I think it can be argued from a point of honesty and sound logic that at certain times there have been groups that were MORE corrupt than the Catholic church....I do not think there is a successful argument that any Western institution has ever been as consistently corrupt, nor corrupt for as long, as the Catholic church. Nearly 2000 years of steady corruption, greed, and undue influence exerted on governments and peoples. The Vatican has billions of dollars stored away just in gold and currencies...not to mention the priceless art and artifacts they have amassed over the centuries. Yet they fleece goat hurders and farmers all over Central and South America for their weekly % of some of the lowest wages per capita on planet Earth....to this very day. Telling these extremely poor souls that if they do not give til it hurts, that God Almighty will not give them favor. It is shameful deceit and greed.

I could recount all day my grievances with the CC...as well as plenty with the Southern Baptists Association, the Methodists and Presbyterians who now allow gay "preachers", pretty much any huge religious organization whether Christian, Jewish, or Muslim. My family worships at. Relatively small independent Baptist church but we do not claim to be Baptists. We chose it because the doctrine is very simple : Biblical worship and teaching. If its in the Bible it is OK...if it is not, it will not be taught. The church is independent...meaning we choose as a group which Sunday school lesson programs to use, what songs to sing, what our kids are taught etc without influence from any organization like the SBA. Our church focuses heavily on feeding and helping our community, we have started and sponsor a small church in Nicaragua, and we vote amongst ourselves which missionary families to sponsor. Everything the church does or does not do is decided by the members and not part of any large organization. I think this is key...i understand religion is very personal and many folks do not see things this way. I am just a sinner, and do not pretend to have all the answers myself.

IKR, everyone can get contraception, very easily lol, nobody wants to take that away lmao.. interracial couples attend my church, and my step father in law was black (he passed a few years back).. I’m a Conservative and a Christian.. I wonder if that will blow people’s minds on here on the Left 😂

Great post . This is the real answer. Leave 90% of the governing to state and local laws and ordinances like the framers intended. With freedom of movement between states and locales, and freedom of association...people can live where the laws and lifestyle align with their chosen beliefs.

The Fed was never meant to do more than provide the common defense and promote the general welfare of its citizens through sound economic policy and only minimal, necessary taxation. The monolith we have now is grotesquely bloated and incredibly ineffective at anything other than enriching politicians and their donors.

How about the Right to Try bill introduced by Ron Johnson and signed by Trump?

if she actually likes Mussolini, then yea, shes a fascist. dunno why thats some kind of leftwing distortion

According to wiki

In a 1996 interview to the French newscast Soir 3, she praised Italian dictator Benito Mussolini as "a good politician, in that everything he did, he did for Italy",[152][153][154] and as the best politician of the last 50 years.[155] In May 2020, she praised Giorgio Almirante, the co-founder of the Italian Social Movement (MSI),[156][157] who was a Nazi collaborator and editor-in-chief of the antisemitic and racist magazine La Difesa della Razza,

She was also a member of MSI in the 90's which was founded by Mussolini supporters. More from wiki:

After the formation of FdI (brothers of Italy) in 2012, Meloni decided to add the "tricolour flame" symbol to its flag, a symbol associated with MSI, which derived its name and ideals from the Italian Social Republic (RSI) a "violent, socializing, and revolutionary republican" variant of Italian Fascism established as a Nazi German puppet state by Mussolini in 1943.[172] The "tricolour flame" represents Mussolini's remains, where a flame is always burning on his tomb in Predappio.[173] Observers, such as historians Ruth Ben-Ghiat and David Broder, said that Meloni and FdI have been ambiguous about their fascist past, at times rejecting it and at other times minimizing it, and that this has helped Meloni to rebrand both herself and her party.[58][120] Responding to the 2021 Fanpage report, Meloni minimized the investigation, while she also refused to remove openly neo-fascist members of FdI.[174] In December 2021, FdI's Alfredo Catapano and Luigi Rispoli were among former MSI members who did a Roman salute, which was condemned by the ANPI. Rispoli told Fanpage: "I believe in the new right and in the efforts Giorgia Meloni is making in Brothers of Italy. It makes me wonder, frankly, this clamour."[175] Shortly before the 2022 general election, Meloni sacked a member that openly praised Adolf Hitler.[65] FdI had also distanced itself from the Ascoli Piceno section of FdI after it celebrated the anniversary of the March on Rome in 2019.
