It's Been The Darkest Time In My Life

Gofundme campaign is complete? It won't let me donate.

I am going to start one using my bank account soon. It was Lauras sister who initially set the old one up and she lives out of state so when it ended I told her I'll just start a new one. Than you so much for the support

Okay everything died down here and shes asleep now so I can finish up my update.

I want to apologize for my absence first and formost. I was sick last week but there is no excuse for the week before that. The infection started ravaging her body and once they told me it was in her heart and she may loose her leg I just sort of lost it to be honest. I honestly believed she was going to die. She was barely conscious and hallucinating from fever and meds and all looked lost to be honest. Somehow someway she turned it around and as of now it's no longer in her heart, spleen or lungs. It seems to be now isolated to her left arm. It can still come back but it does look like they finally got it quarantined and controlled.

She will still be here for a while yet but if the cancer gets into remission they will be able to skin graph her right leg and move her to rehab in the forseeable future.

Words simply can't explain how much yalls love and support has meant to me her and our children. The cards emails calls and texts are overwhelming and I promise to personally contact and thank each and everyone of you Dammit I can never do this without tearing up lol. You have no idea what yall me to me Nation. Yall have helped keep me sane and fighting through all this.

Fabio thank you brother. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. To do what you've done for a complete stranger is almost impossible to believe You pulled me out of the pits of hell twice now brother and I meant every word I said. You ever need anything including a place to stay my home is your home. You are one of the kindest men I have ever known. Love you brother.

Hey Nation I am so sorry for the absence. Laura infection took a nasty turn around 10 days ago and to add to that my son brought home the flu last Wednesday. Laura was able to fight the infection back and they now believe she won't loose her leg. The MRSA is now only in her arm. The wound on her leg will need skin graphs but it looks healthy and barring anymore setbacks I believe the MRSA will be cleared in a week or so.

The best news comes on the Cancer front. Her last spinal tap showed she is blast free in her brain and spine. Her white count has went down for 4 days straight and her platelet count is going up on it's own. There is still cancer in her blood but the doctors are confident that one or 2 more big rounds of chemo will get her into her initial remission.
Of course I'm under no illusions that the cancer won't return but the initial remission is the hardest for adults with the ALL so as long as we stay on top of things I could have her around for a good while yet. I know the long term outlook still isn't great but 25-40% 5 year outlook odds is still pretty damn good. Her fight puts over 50% in my mind. It's been nearly 2 months and her will has never wavered once, even when the cancer was in her brain and we thought she would loose her leg.

The worst part of having that damn flu was not being able to be here with her for a week. That nearly ate me alive but we made it through.

I'll be back on in a couple hours to finish the update and give some personal thanks

Thinking about you guys daily. If you ever need me, you have my number. I know this stuff is hard to talk about. I can even distract you and we can talk football, games, food, any thing you want brother.

Duncan you don't have to apologize. Prayers never let up just because you didnt post. I'm not the only one.

Thank you for letting us offer support. Your openness is quite remarkable.

All the energy and fight that she must have used this week and still props up with a smile. Absolutely awesome.

Helluva lady you have there, Duncan.

I agree 100% with your sentiment. I'm certain that the love, support. and commitment that Dennis has shown Laura during this trying time, made it easier for that smile to pop up.

DD, when you come out the other side of this, you’re gonna be the strongest, toughest m*****f***** that you’ve ever seen. In the ways that really count.

And you’re gonna need to be if you want to keep up with that woman of yours. Because she’s straightup badass.

Just catching up on this post. Duncan, I am sorry to hear the news, but one thing I won't apologize for is the fact that God is with you all.

Your true identity will come forth in times like these. We must stay grounded in our faith. It's not about who we are, but it's about Who's we are. No matter the circumstances, God's love will never falter. God's blessings will always be given, as long as we stay grounded in our faith.

I'm certainly praying for you, your wife and your family in this difficult situation. I pray that the Great Physician continues to lay a healing hand on your wife. May he bring you all peace and strength my friend.

Sometimes bad news (Family flu) is good news (Wife Ok). The lack of news had us fearing the worst.

When my wife was medivac to Okinawa (1994) with pregnancy complications, I brought one of her favorites (yakitori chicken) back from the club. She didn't want it so I ate it and got really bad food poisoning. Better me to get sick than her...and all turned out well, beautiful Daughter!.
