It's Done - Strong will be announced [unconfirmed]

He's had money at Oklahoma State as well, and has yet to succeed at hiring a good one, as T Boone Pickens has dumped as much money into that program as any other program in the nation. Who is to say he would be able to do any different here?

DC opportunity at UT > DC opportunity at Ok ST. Their DC currently rakes in $400,000, at UT we would more than double that for a solid hire. Not worried.

I want it known that the quote tags are messed up. You were quoting BigOrangeCrush, though my name showed up in the quote. I don't want my name anywhere near his opinion on that one.

As a matter of fact, any chance of you editing your post, and fixing the quote tags? (Thx)

It's bad enough our names are so similar.

I noticed that also....and trust me....I do not want to b associated with you either....

Guys, I just got a photo of Strong's reaction to all that money he is going to be making:

My guy at UT says it's a done deal, will be announced Wednesday. Expects it to be around $3.75 mil a year.

I personally don't agree with this hire. Not impressed with what he's done at Louisville in a weak Big East. Others will disagree, say he's a great recruiter. I'm not sold.

But I do know it's a step up from Dooley.

I smell bs! Prove it?

Well Louisville went from not having anyone at their games and a 4-8 season to in just 3 years having a packed stadium week in and week out and going to a BCS bowl.

I dunno about you, but I think that drastic of a turnaround is good enough to warrant a try in the SEC..

And before anyone says "it's just the big east", well, yeah, and he's using Big East talent too. It's not like he's using SEC talent against Big East talent. No reason to think with his success at Louisville and as a DC in the SEC that he can't take SEC talent and beat SEC talent.

That's the exact word that scares me!!!!! We have already been riding that horse for 3 years.

He got Teddy Bridgewater to go to Louisville over offers from several big time programs.

Take a look at their roster: Lot's of Florida kids

Obviously, their classes aren't great, but I'd say he recruited Miami kids pretty well for a school with very little facilities or football tradition.

As for the Cincy and Lville comparison, I'm not sure what observation you made.
Charlie Strong has out-recruited Butch Jones 2 out of 3 years, but if you look closer, you see that he has added 8 4* players in the last 3 years, while Butch Jones has signed just 2. The only reason Cincy's 2012 class is ranked higher than Louisville's is because Cincy signed 30 players to Lville's 22. Prior to Strong and Jones, Brian Kelly(cincy) out recruited Steve Kragthorpe(Lville) 2 out of 3 years, but again Lville signed more 4*'s. Prior to Kelly's hiring in 2006, Cincinatti's recruiting was a dumpster fire(70's-80's). Meanwhile, Louisville coach, wait for it, Bobby Petrino consistently had classes in the 40 - 50 range with the exception of the 2006 class which was Petrino's last year at Lville.

So basically, Louisville has usually had classes in 40 - 50 range prior to Strong, and now has classes in 30 - 40 range with Strong. Cincy recruiting improved a ton when Brian Kelly was hired.

(Higher ranked class in bold:
2012: Cincy #34 (signed 30, 0 4*); Lville #42 (signed 22, 3 4*)
2011: Cincy #42 (signed 25, 1 4*); Lville #33 (signed 21, 3 4*)
2010: Cincy #61 (signed 23, 1 4*); Lville #44 (signed 27, 2 4*)

*** Charlie Strong hired December, 2009 2 months before signing day 2010 ***
*** Butch Jones hired December, 2009 2 months before signing day 2010 ***

2009: Cincy #53 (signed 24, 2 4*); Lville #64 (signed 25, 1 4*)
2008: Cincy #51 (signed 24, 0 4*); Lville #54 (signed 22, 1 4*)
2007: Cincy #80 (signed 23, 0 4*); Lville #47 (signed 16, 6 4*)

*** Steve Kragthorpe hired by Louisville Jan 2009 just before signing day ***
*** Brian Kelly hired by Cincinatti December 2006 2 months before signing day ***

2006: Cincy #70 (signed 18, 1 4*); Lville #26 (signed 29, 1 5*, 4 4*)
2005: Cincy #70 (signed 24, 0 4*); Lville #43 (signed 27, 5 4*)
2004: Cincy #75 (signed 21, 0 4*); Lville #54 (signed 24, 1 4*)
2003: Cincy #84 (signed 24, 0 4*); Lville #48 (signed 31, 1 4*)
*** Bobby Petrino Lville head coach 2003 - 2006 ***

tl;dr: Prior to Brian Kelly (Lville recruiting >>>>>>>>>> Cincy recruiting).
After Brian Kelly (Lville recruiting == Cincy recruiting)

All stats from Scout Recruiting Rankings

So his big draw seems to be in the Miami area. Are there anything to the rumors that one of his "guys" have ties to Shapiro and that has helped his recruiting in that area? I know I read that somewhere and it's interesting you mentioned Miami as being "his spot". Sounds kind of like the handlers in Memphis.

WTF? How did you get that out of my post? I never said anything that was even close. Your just another fkn butt hurt whiner. Seriously you people are destroying this program while pretending to care.

Don't let anybody accuse you of being melodramatic.

Happened to me as well...

Doesnt he already make like 3 mil at Louisville not much of a offer if he leaves for 750000.

Even if he made 3 mil, 750K more a year is not chump change. I'm sure it would take a lot of our salaries together to get to 750K.

Are you blind? Tennessee is coming off 3 straight losing seasons and has missed a bowl in the past 2. We might have the most rabid fanbase in college football right now and there are issues within the administration. Ok St won a BCS bowl last year and were in the NC picture. They had a solid season this year and are looking to have a better team next year, they also have full support from the administration and lower expectations from the fans in a less competitive conference.

So, financially hurting the university...

This is our football team, not a stock.

Whatever... We each deal with it as we see fit, I guess. :ermm:

Oh but it is like a stock.....We invest our time and our hard earned money and we expect a return on that investment
