My guy at UT says it's a done deal, will be announced Wednesday. Expects it to be around $3.75 mil a year.
I personally don't agree with this hire. Not impressed with what he's done at Louisville in a weak Big East. Others will disagree, say he's a great recruiter. I'm not sold.
But I do know it's a step up from Dooley.
if strong is the guy, tennessee getting where they need to be won't happen overnight.
but, he will make steady progress each year until they do get there, which is what dooley was supposed to do
and i do believe they will get there
Not saying I believe...however of all the candidates I've been hearing about lately (Strong, Golden, Fisher, Franklin) he would be my first choice. He was a DC at Florida and also worked at USCe...so he knows the SEC and knows how to recruit in the SEC.
Personally if not Gruden or Tressel (I know all the baggage but a good hire nonetheless) than I was totally support Strong "IF" this is in fact true. Time will tell.
tennessee has won 2 sec games in the last 2 seasons.
no coach is going to jump into this situation and start winning big.
dooley left tennessee as he found it......a couple of recruiting classes away from making big games a fair fight
Evidently Hart has truly gone Rogue and doing what he wants just to rub it in boosters noses. I do think the BOT would never approve it unless no one else would take it as in Dooley again. If we did not hire Gruden because of money issues, and then end up hiring Strong at $3.7 million/year, I'm going to really question the sanity of the UTAD powers that be.
