It's getting old

I had much rather take the approach to limit the amount of mis-information and eventual embarassment by conducting a quiet search than the zoo that Arkansas has/will have from their in your face approach. Anyone that thinks Hart didn't have a plan going into this and who he would be talking to or had already back channelled knows nothing about him.
You have guys that beat their chest and scream "look over here" like some public searches and then you have the quiet approach that yields results. My preference is that he conduct his methodical elimination process to find the best coach for UT for the next decade without being public about who or when he is chatting with them.
Does it suck to have to stay on VN 18 hours a day to see if any insiders have actually talked to anybody behind the "locked door"? Hell yeah but its also like Christmas for me and I want to open my present SOON!!!! :clapping:

at a guess,i would think the banquet, would be the earliest we the fans hear about anything that is going on,unless there has been a deal made all ready and no,i'm not thinking Gruden will sign in the next few hours,I'm sure Hart has been doing his due diligence and has a strangle hold on information leaking out

well AR is blabbering about every offer they make. How is that working for them ? :)

I like the quiet. Make the deal, then go public. Why make noise zooming in on any HC if the hire isn't there?

The only thing AR has been able to do so far is embarrass themselves going after Miles publicly, and he gets a nice little raise for it....

Be patient.

Agree with this.

So which would you rather have, Hart working behind the scenes or Hart updating his contact sheet each day and posting it for public view?

These coaches aren't contacted directly, you work through agents, etc. If Hart publicly comes out and says UT is going after Gruden what do you think will happen? I know, as UT fans many of you feel this is the best job in the world and how could any one turn it down.

So Hart comes out and says Gruden, the next thing you know UT is in a bidding war with ESPN, Philadelphia Eagles, and San Diego Chargers.

What do you think would happen if Hart says Stoops is the guy? Stoops' agent would create a bidding war with Oklahoma and UT most like resulting in raise for Stoops and UT still doesn't have a coach.

Hart's job isn't to make Internet posters happy and keep them informed.

Exactly. I believe Hart is dropping the ball on this search. We had 10 extra days to get on it and I feel Hart hasn't even started

Sorry to be harsh, but you are being extremely naive, sophomoric, and downright clueless if you really believe what you posted above.

If Golden is signed here I hope everyone that considers themselves part of the VOL family riots till the entire office of incompetent morons are cleared from their duties at UT. I can think of at least 15 better candidates then Golden. If we are that desperate then UT has fallen off the map nationally more then I could have ever imagined. I understand you can interview anyone, but I worry that we are truly accepting mediocrity, or hoping for a miracle. I could see our front office and Hart saying,"Oh, well we can't get Gruden, Bob Stoops, Peterson, Patterson, Chip Kelly, etc so we will just settle for a lesser coach and save UT money in the process. Plus, anyone is a upgrade from Dooley..."

I hate that JG cancelled the meeting yesterday with Hart. Could mean the decision is made and no meeting necessary. Could mean they want things to chill due to the legalities of JG being part owner of the Browns and what that means for UT and the NCAA. In any sense he needs to move in or move on. KY has there guy, Arky and Auburn want sit.

IMO if it's not Gruden it's Fedora. He would be a good get but not a Homerun.

I would like to see a run at Patterson. Maybe they have but there is certainly no publicity if that's been the case.

a regular employee has no clue what the upper level management at his company is doing. Doubt you're storming into the CEO's office to find out what moves the company is making next month

Same goes for UT, if you aren't donating the big money then you'll get the info they want you to hear

It hasn't even been a full two weeks since Dooley was fired. Have patience. And last time we hired a coach, every move we made and everyone who turned us down was public knowledge. THAT WAS EMBARRASSING!

BTW, I'm pretty sure there was a constant stream of info coming out during the last search and we kept getting updated on who turned us down--that was depressing to say the least.

This. Both of the searches under Hamilton were exponentially more embarrassing for UT than this one has been. The last two times we had to hear everyone at the top of our list say "thanks, but no thanks", and watch as we moved down, and eventually settled, for a lesser coach. I'll gladly accept the "crazy" tag from the media for thinking we are going to land Gruden, at least we're trying to go big. Also, if you don't believe Hart has a list and hasn't been making contact with agents of potential coaches, you're crazy.

Actually, the calmness is quite refreshing, specially in comparison to the former AD's rush to hire, save the class,3-day debacle that cost millions and wasted good years.

Interviewing Al Night Long Golden, and actually hiring Al Night Long Golden, are two different things.

Dave is just sharpening up his interview skills.

He knows if Beaver Cleaver becomes our next head coach, Neyland Stadium will be torched

What's really comical is that come time for Spring practice you will probably be first in line to proclaim Golden as the next great coach at UT and the one to get us back to the top. LOL.

Steve Spurrier, Jr wants a 10 million dollar buyout.

That's the sticking point.

hearing other schools with job openings interviewing candidates. We get nothing. Not even a list of coaches we might be interested in hiring. This has been UT's MO for some time now. It would be nice if they would let the fans know that we are making progress in our search. But no, it's the same old thing. I know loose lips sinks ships, but this is ridiculous.

Would you rather look like Arkansas, who offers anything that moves and tells the world?
