It's over- announcement coming [by Monday] (WRONG)

Coaching changes is what has gotten Tennessee to this point to begin with. Another change right now would lead to another set back. There will be a right time for change, but I don't think now is the time.

When will be the right time? When we are
3-9 consistently. Your way of thinking my friend is what got Tennessee in this mess. Alabama's way of thinking is what has them #1. In every aspect of college football.

This is not a good thing, if it is true.

(1) The team will likely give up on him and lose a game we are not supposed to lose, thus preventing us from being bowl eligible again.

(2) The recruits we do have committed, will look elsewhere. The next four weeks, Dooley will be a dead man walking.

(3) If it is Strong, he won't take over until after Louisville's bowl game.

(4) If it is Gruden, he likely won't take over until after the MNF season is over.

(5) The recruits we have now will jump ship, between now and the time the new coach is on campus.

(1) We have already lost games we wern't supposed to lose.

(2) Do you not think committed recruits have not already started looking elsewhere for a college football career? Who in their right mind would want to participate in a football program that is as big a train-wreck at UT?

(3) Who cares.

(4) Who cares.

(5) Jumping ship is already happening. We will be fortunate to recruit a decent water boy with our record.

This has been the scheduled departure for at least the last week an a half. It's going to happen--Dooley has been done for weeks.

I still believe it will be made official Sunday and Gruden will make a public comment about accepting the position on MNF.

Official Gruden introduction on Tuesday or Wednesday. Hinshaw will be named interim for the rest of the season.

You still think this happens? Dooley fired today?

I can't say I have a clue if Gruden will be the guy or not. IF he is, you can bet monday night football would fight like hell for him to announce it on their show. I would think Dave Hart would want to do it, but MNF would win out on that one IMO.

Not really, we have not lost anyone. Some are saying they are committed to Tennessee not Dooley.

Whats funny about all this is This time Next year we will be saying DD to get Fired and Gruden is the Next Coach. LMAO

Ha! That is exactly what I've been thinking since this began. I remember a time not so long ago we went through this exact same "Gruden Situation".

Don't get me wrong, I would love it to be true. I lived in Tampa in 2002-2003 when he won the Superbowl. He can work a city.

But this lifelong Vol fan isn't getting his hopes up until there's an announcement.

Reading through threads like this causes permanent brain damage... nobody on this board knows anything more about coaching decisions than Smokey does and he has the sense to keep his mouth shut about it. Why don't we just support the team and whatever coach we have and let all the rest play out at its proper time?

I'm starting to agree, every speculation has an out so they can back pedal and cover there a$$. After all this build up on Gruden it's going to be a huge let down when we bring in Smart or keep Dooley til seasons end

But Gruden will be wearing a Orange tie, having his pic taken on a plane, saying he has land in TN and coming to coaching clinics to help Dooley scheme for Fla. because Dooley only needs +1 +1 +1 +1 +1 years to get the job done

Spot on friend. We need our own Saban. It's the only way to competitive in the SEC. You either need superstar talent or superstar coaching... And one usually follows the other.

I don't think very many people actually think we get Gruden. I honestly will support ANY coach Hart hires as long as he is a winner and or has a resume that gives this team hope going into next year. Gruden would be the home run hire, ANY coach gives us a chance to win VS moving forward with Dools.
