What about these facts?
-Vanderbilt has more wins this season in the SEC than Tennessee has had in the last 2 years combined.
-0-15 against ranked opponents
-Dooley is 1-27 when tied/trailing at the half in his career, akron being the exception
-From 1982-2009 UT lost 3 games by 30+ points. In the past 2 1/2 years with Dooley we have lost 6 games by 30+.
-never won a bowl game
-14-19 overall
Thanks to Insunseri for compiling these facts.
I defended DD until the MSU game. Inexcusable.
Going into this season everyone on the planet Vol agreed he needed 2/5 of the first SEC games to stay. He went 0-fer.
Of the 2 dozen or so season ticket holders I used to go to games with none currently go to games. The cheapest of those had to donate 2-5k per year just to buy. I forget what the biggest guys contributed, but it was fairly large.
Forget top-tier donors, the mid-range donors have abandoned the program.
Yeah ..,except that kind of thing is what got us in this boat in the first place...not worrying about "one" recruiting class...good thing you are not the AD
One can take side in the Gruden camp when it comes to recruiting. His notoriety in the football world would be a bonus to recruiting. But, since he is not going to be a coach at UT I would rather, like you, stay with Dooley for a fourth year. Dooley does a solid job at recruiting. He doesn't offer the hot sauce (franklin) and in turn, the recruits he gets are smart enough not to fall for the hot sauce BS. (peters)

Not getting it right the FIRST time (or even the second time, for that matter) is why we are in this position.Coaching changes is what has gotten Tennessee to this point to begin with. Another change right now would lead to another set back. There will be a right time for change, but I don't think now is the time.

If you hire a contractor to do some remodeling in your house, and they keep screwing up, do you go find another contractor to do it right, or do you just settle for the shoddy work (because you don't want to switch again)?
I have no faith that the "right" coach will be asked or even come to Tennessee right now. If the next hire is not an experienced head coach with an awesome resume, then Dooley should stick around. Stability should not be undervalued.
You beat me to it .DeerPark & BabyVol on TOS have stated this morning that Dooley is out. Gruden has been given 3 options/contracts to consider from UT. They are not saying Gruden will be hired, but Dooley will not coach Tennessee in 2013.
If you follow any of these boards, those 2 guys are a couple of the best at being reliable. Better days ahead.
