This has been the scheduled departure for at least the last week an a half. It's going to happen--Dooley has been done for weeks.

I still believe it will be made official Sunday and Gruden will make a public comment about accepting the position on MNF.

Official Gruden introduction on Tuesday or Wednesday. Hinshaw will be named interim for the rest of the season.

If its Gruden our recruiting will improve. I don't think people understand, you can take it to the bank. Kids will want to play for a superbowl winning coach who is constantly on ESPN in their living rooms and touted as a football expert.

Exactly. Far more than they will want to play for a LM reject who has a proven looser record in SEC play. I don't see us winning out with Dooley. The damage has been done time to move on.

Pro-style offenses generally don't work in college football. That is my ONLY concern with Gruden. I think that can be overcome, though. I'd still love the hire.:dance2:

you mean the pro-style offense that Fulmer ran in the 80's and early 90's,the one Cutcliffe ran,the ones Chow, Kiffin,and Sarkisian have ran since the early 80 at BYU and later at USC? those pro style offenses?

Not as much as putting up with what we have now.

There will be no coaching change announced before season's end if it even happens. If a change was made now the only likely person to bring in as interim HC would be Phil Fulmer. This would be like K-State bringing back Snyder. There is a large segment of UT fan base that would like to see CPF back at the helm.

As far as Jon Gruden goes I am in Tampa and the latest rumor has him going to the Phila Eagles if he wants to coach and the Eags don't make the playoffs.

The latest rumor on Charlie Strong is that he is going to be the next HC at Arkansas.

Thinking here is CDD finishes out season winning rest of games highlighted by a MCB victotry over Duke.

Just say "no" on the Fulmer idea. Really - what is it with you guys and Fulmer? His recruiting classes were terrible in his last 4 years - his staff replacements were terrible.
His teams weren't competitive. No one ( I mean literally no one ) has been beating down his door to hire him -- oh yeah - and I believe we are still paying him.

Move on already.

DeerPark & BabyVol on TOS have stated this morning that Dooley is out. Gruden has been given 3 options/contracts to consider from UT. They are not saying Gruden will be hired, but Dooley will not coach Tennessee in 2013.

If you follow any of these boards, those 2 guys are a couple of the best at being reliable. Better days ahead.

I'll tell you what's way dumber than people talking about Gruden, and that's people acting like Fulmer would come in as interim coach the rest of the season. We have a better chance of Pearl coming back as basketball coach than that happening.
