It's over- announcement coming [by Monday] (WRONG)

Seriously? Gruden won't make it public on MNF if he indeeds coming to TN..
But. If I was Hart and I wanted some hype about it. You:
Make the announcement 1:00 Eastern time.
Gives ESPN and media to discuss.
Rumors will flock that Gruden is #1.
MNF rolls in and then that's when the "gruden declines on TN reaching out" but shows interest about coaching and "claims" he is only focused on MNF right now.
Other coaches pop out. More rumors happen.
Dec.17 is when I predict the final announcement will be.

IMO, if it is Gruden, the news will be made public before any MNF telecaast.

Tirico will ask Gruden about it briefly during the next telecast. Gruden will say something like, "that is where my coaching career started, I love the place and am excited to coach and develop young men on the collegiate level." He might mention his friendship with Manning. And that will be it. The exchange will last less than 3 minutes, but it will be good publicity nonetheless.

IF there is an announcement this week it is because they dont want DD to have the chance to win out, and save his job. I do not think DH makes the move unless and until he has the replacement already committed. He will not lameduck DD unless the new coach is already in place.

Agreed; however, I really don't think Dooley can win out either way. Missouri will probably be a toss up.

If I am a HC and considering the UT job, no way in the world would I take the job now planning to coach the rest of the season. Either DD is fired and finishes the year or an interim is named. As the new HC, I would not take the chance on this team quitting on me as they did last year. I would want a full off season to build up morale and get the players to trust in what we are doing. As for interim HC?? I would name Hinshaw & Chaney as Co Head Coaches to finish up.

Have they named our new coach yet:eek:lol:

I got it! , I got it ! John Madden?:eek:lol:

I'm gonna submit a requisition for a vacation day tomorrow, the suspense is killing me.

Bill Parcells?

Shaun Peyton, dammit thats it, Shaun Peyton. He can finish out the season for us and then return to the Saints next year, while we're waiting on MNF to find a replacement for Gruden.:clapping:

You guys were 19 yards away from driving a stake through Spurrier's heart yesterday. Other than Bray's little beer bottle episode during the summer, there have been no embarrassing off the field issues. Your team showed more class during Lattimore's injury than I have ever known of a UT team to show about anything. Every team except for South Carolina was undefeated at the time they beat you. And all you can talk about is how great you think Gruden "could be" if he goes to Knoxville? After the heart your team played with yesterday there is no way I would say they have quit on Dooley. 19 YARDS!!!

How the fark would you know. Get the fark out now. At least Tennessee is not constantly getting blown up by the NCAA for blatant cheating, which Bama no doubt is doing again. I have a maxim, "If Bama is winning, you know they are cheating."

You all are amazing. According to "credible sources" Dooley's been fired on Mondays about 3 times now. Can't wait to see what happens when this one falls through.

Seriously, you're like teenage girls fawning over Gruden. And there's not even any proof he's coming.

There is no proof he is not coming either.

You lie.. TIFWIW.. but my cabbie has a cousin who once went to Shula's steakhouse. He said none other than Don Shula is coaching us in the interim for the rest of the year. With the ghost of Bill Walsh running the offense and Bill Belichick running the defense.

Let's NOT hire an assistant coach, if this goes down, especially one from bama. We should hire omebody like Kelly, whom ND hired from Cincy and was a winner. That's the ideal. Hiring an assistant is nothing but another crapshoot--little name recognition, no head-coaching experience. Big risk.

Yeah, like Neyland, Dickey and Fulmer.

Dooley will not be fired! Sal will be fired, but not Dooley. Just answer this one question...Do things ever go Tennessee's way???

How many of you guys have been consulted about this? Everyone wants to start a thread acting as if they know something.

I have but, as part of my contract with Coach Gruden, information on a career change and major announcements must go through the publicist first.

She should have the statement and press conference ready to go by Thursday.

Wow, as I read through this, I can't believe there are Dooley Sunshine Pumpers left.

Doolaiders, please stop the prozac for a few days so that you can understand he is not a good coach and he will not be here next year.

Yeah.. like 5 or 6 times depending on which National Champ poll. About 90 percent of the other schools would kill murder or steal to have just one.

Do I like the fact that Tennessee is in the shape it's in? Heck no. I've been old enough to watch Tennessee games since Hacksaw Reynolds, Chip Kell, and Dewy Warren played for them. Grandaddy played defense for the Vols in 1921, so I bleed orange. Unless you got a sure fire proven coach to take over and I can't think of many that will have an immediate impact in the Win column, best bet is to not let the losses dictate the program but the progress that has been made. This team is young and inexperienced (except for the O-Line and they were pretty bad 2 years ago) and from what I've seen, we've only been really whipped twice this year, Florida and Alabama. Is Dooley the man? Maybe not but I feel he deserves one more recruiting year. I saw a better team yesterday than I saw the previous week and so on in these boys wearing orange. The coach needs leadership on the field and other than a few that aren't in high visibility positions, Dooley has none.

Bottom line, we all want the same thing ... wins for Tennessee. I'm willing to see what another year does before I call for a head. Just my opinion and I know I'll be chastised but hey I've watched a lot of Vols games over the years and Lord willing, I'll watch a lot more, good and bad.

This is not a good thing, if it is true.

(1) The team will likely give up on him and lose a game we are not supposed to lose, thus preventing us from being bowl eligible again.

(2) The recruits we do have committed, will look elsewhere. The next four weeks, Dooley will be a dead man walking.

(3) If it is Strong, he won't take over until after Louisville's bowl game.

(4) If it is Gruden, he likely won't take over until after the MNF season is over.

(5) The recruits we have now will jump ship, between now and the time the new coach is on campus.

Our recruiting has to improve. I believe CDD has done a good job recruiting and that he brought talent that can compete in the SEC. However, I'm not so impressed that I don't think a good coach can come do atleast as well and develope talent. I also don't think Gruden is coming to UT.... Strong maybe. It would also be a good idea to remove CDD from the situation and let Sal take the team the rest of the way. Who knows the next coach might want Sal to stay anyway. I hope like heck the clawfence is over. Thirty yard passes on 3rd & 1 are stupid.
