I've seen a lot of concerns about offensive commits....

and just figured I would offer an explanation for that lack of commits.

We have showed NOTHING on the field. We have to show people what we are going to do before they commit to us to play for 4-5 years. We can't just tell them that it's going to be like USC, because it isn't. It's going to be OUR identity, and until we establish one no one is just going to commit on the spot until we do. We don't know if UT is going to be a power running team this year (which by my gathering we will be), and balanced team, or a pass heavy team. We just don't know and neither do recruits. So, let's let this season kinda play out before we start hammering home the lack of offensive recruits. They will come, but they will come for a reason and that's to play in an offense that suits them.

Our starting offensive line is massive. We should be bulldozing opposing defensive lines up and down the field. Our smallest guy is Vladimir Richards and he is the strongest. Go VOLS.

We are running a zone blocking run game....physical "size" is way behind overall athleticism and things like footwork and leverage in that system.....just look at the Broncos O-Linemen over the years.

Right now, Alabama, Florida, and LSU are killing the rest of the conference with verbals.

Alabama, Florida, and LSU didnt have 5-7 records last year, nor a major coaching change either. Lets hope we fix that and get an avalanche of offensive recruits come mid-season.

Verbals at this stage from positions other than QB dont mean a whole lot right now. Lots of kids will change their minds when the results of the 09 season are known....and lots of SR's will break out into 4 and 5* recruits. Way too early to get worried about the other schools verbals, IMO.

The main commit I am worried about the most is a QB commitment because these guys usually commit early to help with recruiting. We did well last year without one but we will need some kid of depth at that position next year besides Stephens and Rozier.

Eff helping with recruiting! We need a QB to line up under center for us! Not taking Tajh Boyd is looking dumber and dumber...

I just saying these guys usually commit early. As far as Boyd goes I don't care if he didn't fit our system I think he could have contributed to the offense this year or at least competed for the starting job. IMO, I don't think he would have had a problem picking up a Pro style offense.

Boyd would have set the bench here, IMO. Most of the people who think that it was stupid to let Boyd go are the people pounding the table for Scroggins to commit.

If Boyd was going to sit the bench, then Brunetti never had a shot to play here. If Kiffin had the opportunity to scout Boyd like he did Brunetti, he would have seen that he could play. He jumped the gun telling him he didn't fit hoping to land an elite QB this year. If he doesn't get Scroggins that plan totally backfired.

There is one thing that if Brunetti committed here would have made him a better pickup than Boyd, even if he sat the bench. Do you know what it is?? :)

Scroggins doesn't strike me as the type to win championships, and honestly none of these guys do that we are recruiting at this point.
You're getting ahead of yourself talking about championships. We just need to field a competitive offense first. Scroggins will end up being a good QB.

We'll see in a few years if Tajh can play.
