I've seen a lot of concerns about offensive commits....

I would have been happy either way. I just remember I was very excited to see the competition between schaeffer and Ainge.

If he's the best of their board, why not?? Doesn't mean they think he can save their programs or anything, just means he's the best on their boards. Jesse is a good QB, but he's not the savior QB or our program or the programs your mentioned.

He certainly could be! The dude is a great HS QB. With Kiffin and co to learn from, the sky is the limit. He may be the next coming of Tee Martin.

We treated CJ Leak fine. He has no one to blame but himself for sucking.

True. The fact that he, as a 5th-year senior, couldn't beat out two true freshmen for the job in Fulmer's seniority system tells us all we need to know.

I hope he becomes better than Tee. I hope he breaks some NCAA records by God!

what is concerning to me was that clawson and company were able to lock up some offensive recruits early even before the season started, and these guys have not gotten one.
I have faith in the staff - but it is an area of concern

I just saying these guys usually commit early. As far as Boyd goes I don't care if he didn't fit our system I think he could have contributed to the offense this year or at least competed for the starting job. IMO, I don't think he would have had a problem picking up a Pro style offense.

Not this year. Injury will prevent.

Scroggins doesn't strike me as the type to win championships, and honestly none of these guys do that we are recruiting at this point.

Right now I'd take a qb like Daryl Dickey who stepped in for Tony Robinson. Dickey was nothing to write home about but he got the job done in a steady care-taker kind of way.

Give me a smart kid who can throw over 50 % (ideally > 60), who will make the exchanges without fumbling, doesn't have to be electrifying scrambler, just sense pressure and step away from it. These modest standards would exceed our qb play of last year and get us to 7 or 8 wins in this first rebuild year.

Verbals are just that. Dont mean squat till they sign.

Oh yeah, definitely. Verbals are terrible. They mean nothing. There is definitely no way that the large majority of kids who have verballed somewhere end up signing there.

In fact, we're probably better off going into NSD with no verbals at all. I'm sure we can still lock down a solid recruiting class without getting any of those pesky verbals along the way.

Clawson was considered a "proven" college offensive coach before ever taking the UT job.....that definitely helped. CLK is unproven as of yet. If I were a recruit, I would wanna see the product on the field some before I commit, or at least see it in fall practice.

we were coming off a ten win season and sec championship game appearance last year. clawson had an advantage

Hi Captain Sarcasm, nice to see you found the place. All he meant was that they do, technically, mean nothing. They are non-binding and kids back off verbal commits all the time.
