I mean, Small isn't exactly bad and we need other experienced runners besides Sampson.
The experienced runner thing is kinda wild in this era. Especially when u consider how the NFL is looking at their mileage. The RB position with the fastest transition on every level. Running the football is all instinct and vision. You either have it or you dont. What keeps them off the field is usually pass protection. We could see that Sampson was a big time RB from day 1, but he had to learn how to block blitzing SEC LB's. If Cam and Keith who are much bigger backs, can pass protect, their natural abilities should take over when it's time to run. We'll learn alot in the bowl game against a stout defense.

I really believe with Sampson leading the charge, we will be reloaded at RB and ready to go come game time. Seldon and Keith have been chewing the bark off the trees waiting for their turns. It's here. There's a lot Kinetic energy that's coming Iowa's way.

I hope Seldon and Co step up. Would be cool.

Sampson will be glad to get the ball and is a much better runner. Best of luck to Small.
So, the coaches were hiding Sampson for a big surprise reveal at a hugely impactful contest like the Citrus Bowl??

I’ve heard how great all the backups are all day today and how UT is going to win big. So, since the team is so great and better than Iowa, what’s the fallout if UT loses? Nothing is not an acceptable answer.

There are things other than running the ball that a RB has to do and some that cant get that down dont get as many snaps. I think Sampson was still learning to pick up blitzes.

Agree. Sampson certainly showed skill for running the ball and finding the end zone. But, since we leave RBs in the game for extended series rather than subbing in and out, they have to be able to do it all.

This is a really poor take. You dont get to decide who is a vfl… these people sacrifice their bodies every day. Chill out…. It lets other people play and prep for next year.
Uh,, yes I do. It's my option, not anyone else's. Obviously you don't agree. But I respect your right to your option.

We'll have an awfully young backfield for the bowl game.😔.
QB Fr
RB So/ RB2 Fr/ RB3 Fr

Not to mention the other skill players
White/Keyton/ Nimrod all 2nd year guys.

I love the youth movement tho🧡.
Win or lose it's huge for developing for 2024

Let me clarify - you can personally choose to not recognize him, but that doesn’t have anything to do with his ‘ status’ at the university as a VFL…. All good

This brings up three questions - Who decides on real VFL status? what does it take to qualify? Is it really forever?

Recruit signs LOI, shows up, rides the bench and transfers at the end of year 1. VFL?

I’ll be honest. I really don’t care. I just thought it was petty to talk about guys who opt out of bowls without understanding their reasons. Players have every right to opt out and prepare for their professional future without judgment from fans. Just my opinion. But I don’t really care how others feel about it. I prob never should have responded in the first place.
