Da hell??? Kamara only been here for 2 years. How could I still be ignoring him?
And I find it humorous how you keep trying to get at me for only recently seeing how great Kamara is and will be in the NFL. I have openly admitted I didn't think Kamara was gonna be that good in the NFL based on what he did last year. I've never tried to claim I am always right on a player. Or that my opinions about a player always stay the same. When new information arrives I change my position. I got new information about Kamara this season and likewise my outlook on his pro potential changed. Similarly, I was super high on Justin Martin last year. Even went as far as to say I thought he had more pro potential than Cam Sutton. Obviously this season brought us new information. Thus, my position on Justin Martin being potentially better than Cam has to be amended. After what happened this year, I'm not even sure Justin Martin can be a starter in the SEC let alone star in the NFL.
Last year I didn't think Kamara was that good. His body was a lil pudgy. He was getting chased down too much for a guy who was supposed to be a burner. And he simply didn't get many snaps at RB. Silly me for thinking Butch Jones couldn't be so dumb as to keep a weapon like this off the field. This year Kamara changed his body over the off-season and has become significantly more muscular. He got more cut. This has resulted in more explosiveness. And because Hurd left, dumb Butch Jones was forced to let Kamara get extensive snaps and the kids true greatness came out.
I will ONCE AGAIN give you credit for seeing this early on. Though you never really have been high on Kamara vis-a-vis other RBs around the country as I am. For example, while I say Kamara is much better than Dalvin Cook. You don't say that. Your loving of Kamara was mostly just to denigrate Hurd. But thats neither here nor there.
And FYI if we're keeping score on who said what. Aren't you the same guy that spent all off-season telling us Dobbs would not improve as a passer? Weren't you the guy who told me Dobbs increasing his yards per pass attempt from 6.8 to 8.0+ was impossible? And yet, you don't see me following you around every thread telling you were wrong about EVERYTHING you said about Dobbs in the off-season?
I say what I think and keep it moving.
You seem to be the only one that is obsessed with everything I say and tries to keep score.
And I was getting ready to give you credit for FINALLY showing some humility and contrition....but then you trot out the "Kamara's body was still a little pudgy" line .....bawhahaha! Omg. Alvin Kamara was the EXACT same player in 2015 as he was in 2016...the only difference is that he was finally given the opportunity to play and excel when a certain jumbo-sized, incredibly overrated and overused running back decided to get in his feelings (vs Georgia and then held out vs TAM) and quit the team. And anybody who legitimately knows what they're looking at with respect to football players and talent have been saying that Alvin was the more talented player and needed much more involvement in the offense from day one.
And as far as contrition goes, I'll eat my crow here as well .....I had a similar opinion of Justin Martin as you and really thought he'd grow to be an outstanding corner opposite Sutton this year. I thought he'd be a certain NFL draft pick in either 2017 or 2018...I was clearly wrong there. I was also badly mistaken about what I thought was a homerun hire in Bob Shoop.
As far as Dobbs, I never said it would be impossible for him to improve and/or get his yards per attempt to 8.0. I said you were being ridiculous with your comments about him going to the Heisman ceremony, being a first round pick, and accumulating 42 tds and 4250 total yards.
I'll gladly eat crow and admit you were right about improving his downfield accuracy and and that he's gotten so close to your predicted tds. Dobbs, outside of turnovers, has been a bright spot of team 120....one of very few.
Finally, my promotion of Kamara from day one was based on what I saw in him, had nothing to do with Hurd....other than he was clearly better than Hurd and needed to play more to help the team. That's it. I've praised Hurd many times and I still advocated him being an integral part of the offense....but I was honest about what I saw, and that's that, surprisingly, he was limited as a pure running back and that overusing him like we did, limited our offense and ability to win games.
