I don't disagree. Yes, they all get a full ride to get their degree, but they're also playing a sport proven to destroy their brains. Is the scholarship really a fair level of compensation? I hardly believe so.
We?
That doesnt make his comments any less stupid regardless.
Sorry, MOST folks do or say something they might regret around that age, must be nice to be perfect. As I said, the comment was unfortunate in that it overshadowed his real point. He apologized as well.
Had he said something along the lines of "A scholarship is great, the chance to earn a degree that will serve me well in life is worth a great deal. However, there are a lot of folks becoming millionaires working for non profit organizations and the SEC in particular is seeing growth from television deals at a rate of 65%. Everyone is getting a raise but labor."
Maybe people would have been able to have a discussion, but...
I am not going to chime in to discuss Tabor's comments as everyone else has. But I wonder what the true value of a year's worth of being in a football program like UT. You have to consider tuition, room and board, meals, stipend, clothes, state of the art weight room, practice facility, rehab rooms, trainers, nutritionists and nutrition bar, lounges, academic centers, and academic support staff. And I am not suggesting that they don't deserve it because they do. Just curious of the overall value.

That happens in corporate America. That labor, also doesn't receive a full scholarship during their education either. Nor is he hampered by low wages to get said education.
