Jalin Hyatt isn’t an NFL ready receiver

Oh please! I think he is gone and will be just fine in the NFL. Now, I dunno if it's because he's so fast but it wasn't until yesterday that I saw thin he is. He needs to add about 20-25 pounds in muscle because looking at him yesterday when he started puking on the field I noticed it. Nevertheless, he'll be fine.

I believe he could use another year of college. I don’t think he is physically ready for the NFL. I don’t want to call him soft, but he tends to get banged up pretty easily. I also don’t see him going over the middle much. Most his catches are on the outside usually go routes. He needs to get more physical for the NFL. Regardless of what he decides to do I’ll be rooting for him!
He caught three balls in the middle of UGA's NFL defense last night.... Really ?

He will be gone by the 3rd rd or earlier with that 40 time and reliable hands if he comes out.

The main reason I think he comes back is that the draft is top heavy already with WR ahead of him in the pecking order.

Downs from UNC, Johnston from TCU, Njigba Ohio St, Addison USC, and Boutte LSU are all getting 1st round buzz ahead of him and Tillman.

He’d be a great slot receiver. Reminds me of a Wes Welker type

Do you remember Welker in the slot getting hit breaking tackles? At this point Hyatt gets hurt several times a game when he gets tackled. He wouldn’t make it through a whole game in the Weller roll.
If half of the people commenting will actually read a post they might lower their blood pressure some.
He can be an NFL receiver but not right now. He needs to add a minimum of 15-20lbs of muscle to make It in the league right now.
My post never says he can’t be it says he’s not ready right now.

UT has him listed at 185lbs . This is a program bump. Stand beside him. He’s still 165-170lbs .

Welker was 185lbs and was three inches shorter. He had a tremendous amount more body mass than Hyatt has right now.

This is spot on! He will get crushed in the nfl. He is to small and to soft to contact. Wes Welker could take it. Hyatt still doesn’t like contact. He has definitely gotten better this year vs his previous years. IMO he is not ready yet. Like I’ve said, regardless of what he does I’ll be rooting for him!

And like others have said, he has excellent straight line speed! I don’t see him breaking many tackles or being very physical, maybe toughness is the right word. Go Vols!

Lol seriously ? Dude has caught 51 passes for 970 yards. 14 tds and hasnt had a drop this season. Sure he needs to add more strength. You guys think Marvin Harrison Jr doesnt ? They all do and thats the biggest transition to the NFL for any and all players. If you really wanna microscope Hooker did not play well. You simply can not hold the ball all day against UGA. The whole team is accountable for the loss. We had a test and we failed. Study and don't make the same mistakes next time. I have a feeling we see UGA again and I expect our guys will adjust and put in the work
great perspective here. I have seen NFL WR have bad nights as well. It happens.
Hyatt may or may not be NFL ready, but a bunch of people said he wasn't SEC ready too.

Nothing to do with last nights game.

He’s a small receiver with great straight line speed. The problems are he doesn’t make guys miss, he doesn’t have the wiggle side to side and he doesn’t break tackles. I remember one touchdown where he got away from a few guys but it was more of him getting lost in the group than breaking tackles.

Almost all of his touchdowns are from running wide open. I’ve seen plenty of what they call system QBs but it seems he’s a system receiver.

I’m not saying he won’t make it in the NFL but I really believe he needs to stay another year and get stronger. I think he gets man handled by bigger stronger NFL DBs . Last night just showed it a little more.

He's an NFL prospect but he needs to increase his strength (like Tillman) because DBs play physical and knock receivers off their routes.

Can't teach speed and he's got that to spare. He had a few steps on a Georgia DB for a TD yesterday, and Hooker just barely missed. So he would've ended up with well over a 100 yards and a TD against the best team in college football. Seems like he's pretty good. He actually showed the ability to work in the middle of the field yesterday as well, which is what you want your slot to be able to do. He's very similar to a guy like Jaylen Waddle. Hyatt is 2 inches taller and 2 pounds heavier, but that's the mold.

When I watch other college teams play, I'm glad we got him. He is fast , and got good hands-- I think he'll be fine in the NFL

Mad respect for Hyatt and what he'sdone here, but he will definitely need to add muscle to his frame to make it long term in the NFL. I don't think that's even an argument.

As far as wiggle goes, he's definitely not Barry Sanders, but with his speed, it only takes one move to bust a play for serious yardage.

He'll get his shot, his work ethic and time will write the rest of the story...

Remember, our offense in general will take a step back with Milton and several new starters. Hyatt’s stock will likely drop as a result.

If the OL gives Milton half the perfection Hooker has enjoyed, you'll choke and gag on your comment above. The only negative I see for Milt, is he's not elusive the way Hooker demonstrates. If Heupel can install a Jake Fromm (or was it Jacob Eason?) contact-loving mindset in him, he will surpass Hooker. Beyond that, with even adequate WRs and TEs, his now wrist flick touch on the ball will have us scoring probably even more. I'm eager for him to have the chance to poison Milton-doubting Vols fans.
