Jalin Hyatt isn’t an NFL ready receiver

Nothing to do with last nights game.

He’s a small receiver with great straight line speed. The problems are he doesn’t make guys miss, he doesn’t have the wiggle side to side and he doesn’t break tackles. I remember one touchdown where he got away from a few guys but it was more of him getting lost in the group than breaking tackles.

Almost all of his touchdowns are from running wide open. I’ve seen plenty of what they call system QBs but it seems he’s a system receiver.

I’m not saying he won’t make it in the NFL but I really believe he needs to stay another year and get stronger. I think he gets man handled by bigger stronger NFL DBs . Last night just showed it a little more.

Its odd his potential is only questioned right after a loss, he has proven himself this year.
Yea, that's not true. The same points being made in this thread have been talked about since he's been here.

Bottom line though, he's putting in the work to get better. He'll add some good weight and he'll get drafted.

I dont know how far back your talking but I have not saw anyone questioning his abilities this year and for good reason, he's been one of if not he best receiver in college football this year, he will get drafted there is no question about it.

Read my post again, I plainly state how far back I'm talking about.. Also check the part where I say he'll get drafted.

Im saying this is the first thread I have saw this year doubting his abilites, you may have said many times what you think his shortcomings are and thats fine but this year he has proven himself, he is in the Heisman conversation which is proof enough of what he can do also I am not implying you dont think he will get drafted but to even entertain the idea he wont by anyone in this thread is crazy.

I wouldn't call it doubting his abilities, but more of a clarification of his skill set. He seems to have a great work ethic and he should continue to improve. I would like to see him add at least 10-15 lbs of muscle. I believe that will help his longevity at the next level.

Gym strength means nothing. You think Rice and Moss worried about what they could bench? Lol. Also, you do realize that the NFL has strength and conditioning right?
I wouldn’t say gym strength means nothing. If you look at the players with strong lifts it usually translates to the field. I was just saying he isn’t weak like the other guy said.

Right now, I would say Hyatt is a late second round to early third round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.

He has speed to burn and would be a great pick for my Falcons who could use some more offensive play makers.

He is a DeSean Jackson-type receiver---not big but with lots of speed. Jackson has been in the league for well more than a decade as mostly
a deep threat.

Could he be a slot receiver? Hmmm. NFL slot receivers tend to make a couple of quick moves and catch a lot of short passes over the middle. They take a lot of punishment--have to be very tough.

If all of that is true then how the hell did Jameson Williams go in the 1st round last year?? How did devonta smith go in the 1st round?? Please explain, they all have very similar body structure, actually Hyatt may be the most developed. So what’s the difference?

Funny how much crap you’re getting. I agree with you in the sense that I think he translates to the college game much better than the pro game. I wouldn’t say he isn’t “NFL ready” but he’s a 2nd to 3rd round take the top off the defense receiver. He’s amazing, my favorite Vol in the last 10 years, and worthy of Heisman chatter. But he’s a burner who lacks wiggle. The person who said he reminds him of Wes Welker…what… how many quick outs, quick ins, and quick slants has he ran this year? No. He runs flys, posts, sluggos, comebacks, and drags.

Will be a 2nd or 3rd round pick due to speed and being a football guy. But he’s no catch the ball and make people miss guy.

Wild how many people don’t see this to me.

Not only does he need to get bigger, he needs to work on his physicality. I'd like to see him hit the weight room and put on an additional 10 lbs without losing any speed. He'll never be a bruiser like Bru, but at least this can enable him to take some contact and muscle out a couple of yards when needed.

They put people on skates in their route running and make people miss…

Hyatt kind of reminds me of a young TY Hilton. Likely going to be the fastest, or first, guy to the ball everytime with excellent hands.

It took TY a couple of NFL seasons to add some weight/ strength and get better at route separation.

In other words, if Jaylen wants to go this year he'll definitely make a roster and will have a decent career.

Moderators, is it possible to put an unlike button to register our feelings about posts like this? It should be just as readily available and sometimes the ignore button isn't a strong enough response.

I just think its hilarious we lose a game and theses threads come out. He had as many catches as CT or BM. He has also broken the school record. How many great receiver's have came through here ? Yeah sit down.... Why is this bs even a thread ?

He would have been the 2nd best receiver on the field for the Titans last night. He'll be in the league a long time.

I agree about the strength. I said going in that uga had the talent and athleticism to play press/man against us and they did. Every db in the NFL can play that way. Having more strength and quicks would certainly be something he'd work and likely improve on with another year. It's why I think the NFL will like Tillman's upside a lot more than Hyatts. Having said that, I think Squirrel might be the type of slot guy that really fits Heupel's system well. Not sure he'll put up the dream season that Hyatt's having, but I think his skill set might be better suited to the slot than Hyatt's. He's got the quicks to beat press coverage.

I'm really excited to see him play when his time comes. In his limited exposure this year when Tillman was out, he showed inasane abiliy to be open, and had some tough passes to go get in the Bama game I think it was. He's as freshman, so if he learns to bring those passes in, he will be exciting to watch.
