That would be DeSean Jackson who has caught 58 touchdowns in the NFL and made the Pro Bowl 3x, DeSean Jackson?
I suspect Jalin would be fine w/that comparison too.
And he had the speed as a Freshman. It's not the lack of speed that's made the difference this year. (hint, it's the routes)
Ok so Jalin isn't a make you miss guy, although he has shown some ability to do that. However he isn't a dancer. He is a football player in his JR. YEAR. HE has another year if he wants it. He also has a covid year I would think. Does that mean he should pass up 1st round money if it's on the table ? Absolutely not. HE absolutely get paid if he believes he is ready.I'm realizing we are all arguing very different things. My points.
1. Jalin Hyatt is very good. He should be in the Heisman discussion.
2. It's been fun to watch. I was so pumped when he committed to UT back in the day. His play in the SC championship game showed me he's a dog.
3. Jalin Hyatt will play in the NFL. But it blows my mind he's 14th overall on Kiper's big board. (That sid, Kiper is WAY more knowledgeable than me so I acknowledge I may just be ignorant.)
4. In my mind (or in my ignorance) Hyatt reminds me of a better Anthony Schwartz. He can FLY. But he is not going to break people's ankle's with his route running.
5. My biggest hang up in this discussion was someone comparing Hyatt to Wes Welker. In what world is Hyatt anything like Welker? Watch the above videos. He's good at routes that utilize straight line speed. When he catches the ball, he rarely makes someone miss unless he has an angle on them.
My overall statement - Jalin Hyatt is great and should be in the heisman discussion. Jameson Williams and Davonta Smith (despite also being small) are VERY different players than Hyatt in that they can Moss you, they can put you on skates in their route running, and make you miss with the ball in their hands. Jalin Hyatt is nothing like Wes Welker. Jalin Hyatt will take tops off of the defense in the NFL. Additionally, this is not us having a meltdown because we lost. Simple discussion in the boredom of preparing for Mizzou week.
Okay, love you all, Go Vols.

Love for Hyatt to stay but to say he’s too small for NFL is silly. You need to look at size of the leading WRs in NFL. He will do fine in the NFL.Nothing to do with last nights game.
He’s a small receiver with great straight line speed. The problems are he doesn’t make guys miss, he doesn’t have the wiggle side to side and he doesn’t break tackles. I remember one touchdown where he got away from a few guys but it was more of him getting lost in the group than breaking tackles.
Almost all of his touchdowns are from running wide open. I’ve seen plenty of what they call system QBs but it seems he’s a system receiver.
I’m not saying he won’t make it in the NFL but I really believe he needs to stay another year and get stronger. I think he gets man handled by bigger stronger NFL DBs . Last night just showed it a little more.
Ruggs got drafted in the 1st round at 165. He's going to get drafted.Do you remember Welker in the slot getting hit breaking tackles? At this point Hyatt gets hurt several times a game when he gets tackled. He wouldn’t make it through a whole game in the Weller roll.
If half of the people commenting will actually read a post they might lower their blood pressure some.
He can be an NFL receiver but not right now. He needs to add a minimum of 15-20lbs of muscle to make It in the league right now.
My post never says he can’t be it says he’s not ready right now.
UT has him listed at 185lbs . This is a program bump. Stand beside him. He’s still 165-170lbs .
Welker was 185lbs and was three inches shorter. He had a tremendous amount more body mass than Hyatt has right now.
Jalin Hyatt - 6'0 -185 lbs - 4.31 40 time
Tyreek Hill - 5'10' - 191 lbs - 4.29 40 time
Now, you were saying?
To put it bluntly, yes, he has elite speed but not much wiggle (elusiveness). He's rail thin and if he were to play in the NFL this Sunday, he likely would not finish the game. It's more a matter of his physical stature than his skill and ability. What about him does not translate to the NFL? Seems like a preposterous take based off an emotional loss
Do you know how many receivers have made it just being fast. Desean JacksonNothing to do with last nights game.

Jefferson, Diggs are like same height, only a few lbs heavier, they seem to be alright. To put it bluntly, yes, he has elite speed but not much wiggle (elusiveness). Not sure why that's so hard to understand or why some think It's some emotional overreaction to the Georgia loss.. That's just laughable...
