Jalin Hyatt isn’t an NFL ready receiver

Funny how much crap you’re getting. I agree with you in the sense that I think he translates to the college game much better than the pro game. I wouldn’t say he isn’t “NFL ready” but he’s a 2nd to 3rd round take the top off the defense receiver. He’s amazing, my favorite Vol in the last 10 years, and worthy of Heisman chatter. But he’s a burner who lacks wiggle. The person who said he reminds him of Wes Welker…what… how many quick outs, quick ins, and quick slants has he ran this year? No. He runs flys, posts, sluggos, comebacks, and drags.

Will be a 2nd or 3rd round pick due to speed and being a football guy. But he’s no catch the ball and make people miss guy.

Wild how many people don’t see this to me.

People don’t understand watching a player and having an opinion. I never said he wouldn’t make it to the league or be a good receiver in the league. Just not right now.

With his body and getting hurt almost every game he needs more muscle to be there right now. When he goes up against people that out weigh him by 30lbs and are as fast as he is he has to be able to do more than run fast. Can he do that absolutely. Can he do that with his size right now. I don’t think he can.

If he goes across the middle in the NFL today and a 6’3” 220lb safety tees off on him he won’t last. Put on another 20-25lbs of muscle and his body will hold up.

He went from a Heisman contender to being not good enough for the NFL.

Gotta love our fanbase.

Who said he wasn’t good enough? I said he isn’t ready. There are only a couple of hundred future NFL
Players in college right now that aren’t ready.

I think if he goes now he stays hurt all the time and once you get that stigma in the league it’s hard to get more chances. With NIL and the deals he could get to stay another year it would probably be better for him to keep working like he is and add more muscle. Then he will be ready.

Someone look at a picture of him in street clothes and tell me he doesn’t need to add some size to his speed. AE633409-1B6E-4D84-9394-41373AFC101D.jpeg

Also if your a Helton from the Knoxville Heltons we’re related.

Don’t know how this is a meltdown
Do you not understand how good Hyatt has been? You couldn’t find 5 better receivers in college football. He’s potentially the best in the game right now. He’s elite and without a doubt a major NFL prospect

Nothing to do with last nights game.

He’s a small receiver with great straight line speed. The problems are he doesn’t make guys miss, he doesn’t have the wiggle side to side and he doesn’t break tackles. I remember one touchdown where he got away from a few guys but it was more of him getting lost in the group than breaking tackles.

Almost all of his touchdowns are from running wide open. I’ve seen plenty of what they call system QBs but it seems he’s a system receiver.

I’m not saying he won’t make it in the NFL but I really believe he needs to stay another year and get stronger. I think he gets man handled by bigger stronger NFL DBs . Last night just showed it a little more.
Stop.

I agree. He’s amazing. Heisman contender.

OP was simply trying to have a discussion about how he translates to the NFL. How is that a meltdown?

Not an expert, but he seems to be the most NFL WR we have had come out of here in a long time.

Compared to the last Heisman winning WR, I don't think "looks" and size matter. I'd like to see him come back to work on his route running skills etc. I would have nothing but well-wishes if he chooses to strike while the iron is hot this year in the draft.

 - It's not like when you play Madden, dude.

DeSean Jackson, 5'10" 175lbs
Tyreke Hill, 5'10" 190 lbs
Will Fuller, 6' 172 lbs
Marquise Goodwin, 5'9" 180 lbs
DeVonta Smith, 6' 170 lbs
Jalin Hyatt, 6' 180 lbs

What about him does not translate to the NFL? Seems like a preposterous take based off an emotional loss

Will play in the NFL but has limitations. I like the Desean Jackson comparison just fine.

Really???

Have you ever ver stood beside Hyatt? There’s no way he’s 180lbs.

you don’t see a difference in the body mass. I never said he wasn’t good or couldn’t make it. I think
He needs to get bigger before he goes or he will
Stay on the IR.
So the 1st picture is Fuller and then Hyatt at the end. You really believe Hyatt is 8lbs more and the same height?

So those are combine photos then? Comparing apples-to-apples?

You're not taking a picture of Will Fuller, 6-7 years into an NFL career, much older and further along in a weights program, right?

He hasn’t played a complete season in the league because of injuries. Like I said Hyatt will be better off bulking up before he goes of he will get the same stigma.
View attachment 511725View attachment 511726

That stigma, being a first round pick, 21st overall.

That was after 62 receptions for 1,258 yards and 14 touchdowns.
Jalin in comparision, with 4 more games to go, has 51 receptions, 970 yards, and 14 touchdowns.

Had enough Ls yet, or want to keep going?

That would be DeSean Jackson who has caught 58 touchdowns in the NFL and made the Pro Bowl 3x, DeSean Jackson?

I suspect Jalin would be fine w/that comparison too.

And he had the speed as a Freshman. It's not the lack of speed that's made the difference this year. (hint, it's the routes)

These dudes are killing me with their NFL evals. Taking L's.... The fact that this is even a thread is disrespectful as hell to the most productive WR in VOL HISTORY... let that sink in... he is also one of the lead components as to why we started 8-0 and are in the position we are in.
