If he comes here, then the whole accountability thing that the new staff is going for is going to be effected from day 1. We can't bring this guy on board.
Why not? He screwed up a long time ago. There are alot of players on our roster that have screwed up in the past. Kiffin is installing a "once you are under my watch you will stay clean and focus on our team and not allow any screw ups".
This kid has been in trouble from Day 1 in D-1 football. People that are BIG supporters DO NOT want this kid here. People were VERY vocal about how UT and other teams missed out on this kid. Looks like Fulmer did the right thing with this one. If they do sign this kid, oh well. Kiffin and Co. will catch a whirlwind of dog poo if he screws up while here.
I understand what you are saying, but hasn't he been clean since the incident with the CC?
What if they take the risk and he turns out to be a major contributer to our team and a great person who learned a lesson by committing such an appauling act and getting slammed publicly?
Nah DJ Hunter has messed up twice.
"Florida football coach Urban Meyer kicked Hornsby off the team following his second brush with the law in the span of 13 months. In April of 2007, Hornsby was cited on a misdemeanor criminal mischief charges when he tossed a man on a hood of a car during a fight, causing about $750 in damages."
With the big name staff we have right now, the biggest thing is making sure that the team gels and so do the coaches. I don't want any other distractions than what we currently have on this team at this point in time. Hornsby should play for Ole Miss anyways from what I have been reading.
Jamar Hornsby gave Ole Miss fans quite a scare this past weekend with the revelation that he was taking an official visit to Tennessee.
The fans weren't alone. Ole Miss' football coaching staff wasn't exactly thrilled about Hornsby's 48 hours in Knoxville either.
"They were a little worried, but I had to do what was best for me at the time," Hornsby said.
Hornsby, a former Florida standout who spent last season at East Mississippi Community College, committed to the Rebels in December.
"I'm still committed to Ole Miss," Hornsby said Tuesday afternoon. "It was a good visit. Tennessee's in a bigger city, and there are more things to do. The stadium at Tennessee is bigger, but it's not too much of a difference."
Asked how firm his commitment to Ole Miss is now, the former Florida standout was a bit ambiguous.
"I really don't even know right now," Hornsby said. "I have a lot of stuff going on and a lot of stuff to think about."
Ole Miss coach Houston Nutt visited Hornsby today in Scooba.
"It went pretty good," Hornsby said, adding that Nutt will visit his mother in Jacksonville, Fla., later today. "We left it on a real good note."
Tennessee, with former Ole Miss coach and new Vols' defensive line coach Ed Orgeron spearheading the effort, will be in Scooba sometime soon.
"Tennessee said they were coming," Hornsby said. "I'm not exactly sure when."
Hornsby said he won't make a final decision until National Signing Day on Feb. 4.
The one that actually caused bodily harm. The other is just pathetic and disgusting. To be clear, I'm not lobbying for either to be on the team.
