That's because those of us who have been around for awhile have seen a number of versions of this movie at FSU. The arrogance factor, in particular, going back to players like Sanders, is thoroughly annoying.

I recall Winstons most recent apology about how he's not a me person. And so there he is, getting as much tv time as he possibly can without playing.

He is emblematic of the way the FSU program handles success. Classless. For decades.

Maybe but under Meyer you guys had a fair share of your own off field issues.

As if Meyer is still our coach...this thread is about FSU and Winston.

Lol. You guys are starting to sound like UT fans from a couple years ago.

Food for thought. Kiffin will be available. He posted up 6fidy on your boys today. I envision him like the herp infection. 1 in 4 sec teams will be carriers by the time he is done.

This guy is something else. He dresses for warm ups and goes on the field even though he knew he was suspended. Fisher sent him to the locker room. How much more crap will he put up with?

Cornwell (Winston's lawyer) ends his letter to the school by writing: "Mr. Winston will cooperate with the Investigation. He looks forward to clearing his name. But Mr. Winston will not walk into a honey trap. The Investigation must be a legitimate investigation."

Yeah, because FSU is desperately looking for any excuse to rid themselves of their Heisman Trophy and National Title winning star QB.

Nice of JW's lawyer to refer to a federal Title IX investigation as a honey trap.

LOL, I thought the same thing !! What an odd expression to use for the investigation.

If its true there was a settlement demand, that's one thing. A settlement demand followed by, "or we go to the press" sure makes at least the accuser's attorney look bad.

Its odd this is just coming out now. It has an air of scorched Earth to it, like that Winston's team will demean and embarrass anyone who dares to criticized him.

And the worst thing it does for FSU is just keep Winston in the news for another cycle. I cannot recall a football player anywhere who just kept himself in the news constantly with such negativity.

Fisher is a joke. I NEVER would have thought a kid would run a program but apparently that's how they nole in Tallahassee.

If there were any evidence of a settlement demand, why in the world would Winston's attorney not have produced it during the initial investigation? That makes absolutely no sense.

Doesn't TMZ say it has the letter? Or is it just Winston's attorney's word for it that there was one?

Jimbo know's where his bread is buttered. He knows that without Winston, FSU has ZERO chance of repeating. FSU has always been a program that let the inmates run the asylum, Bobby Bowden Aww shucked for years and the media gave him a pass. I dated a girl who worked at FSU and she would tell me stories about Deion tipping the pizza delivery drivers a C-Note, players driving sweet rides after coming from the worst areas of Florida. JW is just another money maker in a long list of money makers that run that program.

No, the letter TMZ referenced is the letter Cornwell sent to FSU saying that Winston will cooperate with the Title IX investigation. They haven't claimed to have any evidence of the demand.

The accuser's lawyer has fired back. All I can say is wow:

“Atlanta NFL lawyer, David Cornwell, has apparently leaked to TMZ a self-serving letter to Florida State University that is full of dishonest and distorted statements at a time when Mr. Winston is suffering from the negative attention of his own continuing misconduct of last week. Mr. Cornwell appears to know that Mr. Winston is about to be charged by Florida State with sexual assault and this letter seems to be his final attempt to prevent FSU from complying with federal law.

The facts that Mr. Cornwell chose not to disclose are that it was he, himself, who reached out to our client’s former counsel Patricia Carroll to discuss paying off our client. Patricia Carroll didn’t even know who David Cornwell was until he called. Mr. Cornwell then himself flew down from Atlanta to negotiate with Ms. Carroll.

“Settlement discussions were immediately unproductive as Cornwell was crude and insulting going so far as to say ‘your client likes to [expletive] football players.’ When told that the client’s main concern was not money but that Winston be held accountable for his actions, Cornwell threatened to sue our client and her parents for civil racketeering in an effort to intimidate them into staying quiet. After learning about Mr. Cornwell’s unprofessional conduct at that meeting from Ms. Carroll, our office has decidedly not engaged with Mr. Cornwell at all or anyone else on Mr. Winston’s behalf. Although it our understanding that settlement was discussed, no authorized demands were made of Mr. Winston.

“Mr. Cornwell additionally and inaccurately portrays that our client chose to file a complaint ‘two years later.’ The truth is that the University approached our client in October of 2013 and asked her for the first time whether she would cooperate with disciplinary charges against Mr. Winston after the school received a second report of sexual misconduct by another woman. Our client responded that she would certainly cooperate. Since that time our client through counsel has repeatedly agreed to cooperate and meet with the University. All of these communications, including the October 2013 discussion with FSU officials, is documented. Mr. Cornwell may wish the truth were otherwise, but FSU’s own records proves him false.

“To the extent that Mr. Cornwell references statements about Mr. Winston’s race, we would doubt that Ms. Carroll made such remarks. The suggested remarks are certainly not beliefs held by our client and she would never authorize anyone to say such things.”
