Janzen Jackson charged in murder of mother's boyfriend

"Jackson came to California and spent several weeks bouncing between his great-uncle’s house in Los Angeles and the apartment his mother and Herrera shared in Santa Monica.

Jackson had been talking to himself and acting strangely, his mother testified, leading her to call county mental health workers in August to evaluate him."

I wonder if he got evaluated? It looks like he's had Mental Issues for a while now. This is truly a messed up situation.

Not a flattering statistic, but how many former Vols have killed someone?

Goodrich, Little, Stallworth, Jackson...

Sad situation all around, how any of you could joke about this baffles me. This young man had some issues, and if you remember had some serious family problems that he took a leave for when he was playing at UT. Of course some of you didn't care about that, only that he got his butt back to Knoxville in time to play.

I don't think it's quite fair to equate first degree premeditated murder with vehicular manslaughter. The end result is the same, but where vehicular manslaughter is usually stupid, reckless, and senseless, premeditated murder is much, much worse.

I understand. That's why I asked about killing not murder.

This article is missing all kinds of information necessary to make any kind of determination. Just remember folks, innocent until proven guilty. I'm damn tired of this trial by media era we live in. He may well be guilty, but let him have his day in court. In any case prayers to the family of the deceased.

Just shows Kiffin's recruitment of thugs but as with all programs you've got to have them to compete and win!

Weren't there rumblings of some mental problems even back when he was at UT? If so, it's a shame that he wasn't properly cared for. I know you can't help everyone, but his time in college was probably the best situation for him to be helped.

Sad that another UT football player goes down having committed a horrible crime or making a death causing mistake. He wore the orange and reflects on all of us. I pray for him, his family, for the family of the man he killed. I am thankful we have a coach like Butch for whom good character matters with his recruits. Bad things will still happen, just hopefully not as often or this tragic.

Come on !!!!!!!!! That's the problem with you young punks that her so freaking desinsitized from all the shoot em games you play!!!! Uncalled for!

"shoot em games..."

What's uncalled for is anyone in here acting like they actually feel sorrow or pain for the victims and families involved. If you actually think this is a big deal, then it seems as though you should lose sleep every night for the thousands of murders committed every day across the globe.

Sure, some of the jokes in here sucked nut, but some of them were funny.

If this guy has a mental illness, it has nothing to do with Kiffin. Mental Illness is something that is very serious and very sad. I see people every day who suffer from depression, schizophrenia, anxiety etc....I hope this kid can get some help, this is a sad story

Remember when everyone on here defended him during the robbery stuff, just because he was very talented? Nah, he didn't know about the robbery, or the drugs in the car. He was just out for a soda pop.
