In this day in age, the President (of all people) should understand that there is symbolism in virtually every move he makes. It makes him seem detatched and aloof while a crises rages on the other side of the Pacific, and it certainly doesn't help the perception that he is a weak leader.

For one, global public image.

For two, it shows his true trait. The morning Gifford was shot he had a photo taken from the war room and made a statement.

He has yet to speak with Japans leading media paper and goes golfing.

They are our ally. You show more respect.

There are many pertinent criticisms to be lobbied against Presdient Obama. Not convinced this is one. But that's just me.

It just looks again like he is a weak leader. It's just sad.

The fact that this is accepted shows how people no longer feel the POTUS is a global leader.

Is there a timeline? Is there a certain level of calamity that merits vigil?

I don't get it. There just isnt much he can do and we already know that the mantle of world leadership doesn't fit.

President of the Unites States, not President of the World. Japan's handling the situation just fine. He was one of the first to pledge aide to them. Why does he have to answer questions to a Japanese newspaper? Sure, he's not a great President, but this is splitting pubic hairs.

So move to your third world empire already, and show the president what integrity looks like.

I do feel there is a timeline.

When an ally has a catastrophe of this size and is still dealing with a nucleaqr situation you don't go golfing. being the President has alot to do with how people publicly view you. This shows a passiveness that isn't good. I have no problem with him vacationing. I would prefer not to happen with an ally is in the middle of a disaster.

Isn't he the same guy that said you sometimes don't do things because it sends the wrong message to the rest of the world? I guess this only matters when dealing with Muslims.

He should have stayed in and taken a nap.
