Jarnell Stokes names his top 3

This is pretty irrelevant. Memphis is a commuter school anyway so being on campus wouldn't change much.

Then why spend SO MUCH time decrying not having an "on campus facility"...personally...I wouldnt want it on campus either....really not a very good place to put it in Memphis though....

Pre-season top 10. Expectations are high. Memphis fans understand that this team needs to deliver.

Yeah, no question he got a pass last year...what troubled me most at the games I attended, he didnt seem to have control of the huddle in timeouts, etc...personally I like Josh but with the talent he had last year and granted it was young, he should have produced a much better season...with the conference, schedule, yada yada yada he really needs to post a 23-25 game win season...thats just not asking too much.....

Haha just giving you hard time.
:hi: I know man. :peace2:

I think it is different with football than it is with basketball. Basketball could fill up the arena without students. I assume they want/need every possible student at the football games and having it on campus allows the few that are staying on campus to attend. It also gets "fans" (of what few there are) back onto campus. I understand your view and points could be made for it both ways. I just think basketball and football differ a little here.

No question. Basketball games will always bring 16-18k a game. Football needs the students to go to the games. They need to also downsize. If an on-campus stadium was ever built it'd need to be 40k capacity tops. The Liberty Bowl is a terrible stadium...facilities are god-awful and it'll take more than just $1 million to fix that situation (if an on-campus stadium is 100% out of the question). I guess with Tiger Lane being created it pretty much is.

I think you are right on with all of this.

Yep. You driving 5 hours to football games is a cover up. I knew it.
The results of the last few home games me questioning why I do it on the 5 hour trip back. It builds back up come the next weekend though. lol

The House that Pat built isn't shabby at all. When you guys bring recruits through, which NBA players do they play pick-up games with?

If you really think summitt is responsible for tba, you're an idiot. Also, the actual arena of tba is nicer than the forum. The forum beats tba in the concourses.

I think this was in reference to Pratt, and I don't think any part of TBA beats the Forum, but again, that's just my opinion.

You'd be wrong about Pratt as well. Pearl was by far the most responsible. And we can agree to disagree over tba and the forum. I've been to both several times and they're both nice venues.

Wasn't there talk about Stokes announcing today? What happened with that?

People on twitter gave him an idea of making his choice with pumpkins and he said it was a good idea which they took as he was committing today. It was just people reading things the wrong way.

Ahh, ok. Thanks. I knew about all that, but was under the impression that he was set to do it. The longer this goes, the better our chances I think.

I have been to the forum probably 10 times, as I live in Memphis, and back to TBA 3-4 times since renovated. As you said, both are really nice. I honestly do no think there is an appreciable difference between the two.

You really think so? I'm not trying to be glib, but every minute longer this plays out is a minute longer he is in Memphis, practicing and playing with the current and former Memphis players. When the season actually starts, he'll be watching Memphis' loaded team and a re-building UT team. I think the longer he holds out, the more Memphis is solidified as his pick.

I see you logic about watching the teams play.

But know one know what kind of product UT is going to put on the court. He will get a chance to see our style of play, and we may even be able to steal a few unexpected wins that could help.

The unknown Martin factor could be help us.

Whether he chooses now or later is of no consequence in terms of the Memphian influences surrounding him. Those influences aren't going away. If he chose UT now, every negative influence in that city would do everything in their power to turn him.

There is just a good a chance that he watches Pastner fall on his face again with a world or talent. He may see a place for a stud like himself in Martin's plan and how he plans to highlight him.

To boil it down to it's simplest question, "If it's Memphis, then why wait?" He would have no motivation to hold out if he knew for sure it was Memphis. He has every reason to hold out on a public commitment if it were Tennessee.

Attention, and I don't mean that negatively. Kid is enjoying his recruitment.
