Stokes' dad:
Stokes also addressed the possibility that his son could graduate from high school early and enroll in college in January.

"It's an option," he said. "He's an honor student; he's been taking honors classes all this time. We haven't seriously discussed him to college mid-year but that is a possibility. We will discuss those things (Monday night)."

Who knows. I think this "Stokes can be eligible in january" nonsense was invented by desperate Memphis and Arkansas fans. It's ridiculous and I don't think Stokes has even considered it.

I see this as a good thing for TN and not so good of a thing for Memphis. I know Memphis does not have an extra scholarship to give out for this season. They are at full allotment. I think Arky has one and We definitely have one to give. If he decides to enroll in January, we might just get him. Wishful thinking, though. Will probably end up at Memphis either way..but I wouldn't mind being wrong about that.

Also, not committing to Memphis thus far says one of two things: 1. I am an 18 year old who is enjoying my recruiting process and attention. (who can blame him, I sure would). 2. I am waiting until the last minute to commit because I'm leaving Memphis and do not want to deal with the Memphis fans for very long after I commit elsewhere. (could be why he said a decision is coming soon and would make sense if he is going out of his hometown)

I guess we'll see. Go vols! He'd be a great addition this year or next and would definitely take us dancing.

If he wants to go in Jan, Memphis' lack of scholarship is not likely a deterrent, IMO. If he is an honor student, he can get HOPE and maybe some other type of aid. May even be allowed to live at home if need be to save cost.

It doesn't matter whether he signs with UT or not beause we have Martin coaching. If you don't believe me check out the threads right after Martin was hired.

Big day on so many fronts for the Vols. We really need a big crowd. This pisses me off even more I didn't find away off work in time to make the 3 hour drive over. Any body heard how ticket sales have for been for the game?

In the most stunning news of the day, Stokes answered my call.

He is in Knoxville. He called it a spur of the moment kind of trip.

He didn't want to get into any talk about where schools are on his list or anything, but he did drive up for an unofficial visit.

He said he was not sure if he was going to head to college in January or exactly all things were going to workout next month.

Hopefully he will visit with us on Sunday about the his time in Knoxville.

Big kudos to Cuonzo and his staff for their battle in his recruitment. They were dead in the water months ago, but they have clearly gotten Stokes attention and are in the thick of things.

Hopefully will have more on Sunday.
