Let me start by saying that I appreciate that this kids wanted to play for the Vols. However, it is becoming more and more clear that he is not the QB to lead this team out of our troubles. Watching him all last year and the two games this season, it is clear that he has not taken the necessary steps to excel at this level. Last week he was horrible and tonight has not been any better. He has over thrown a couple of players, an intentional grounding, multiple passes where the receiver bailed him out from an interception. He has on at least two occasions gotten the ball to the open receiver late, both if completed on time would have been a TD. It is time to move in from this train wreck.
Here is a fact for you. We are 0-2 with JG this year after 2 games. We were 5-7 with JG last year and we were 4-8 with JG the year before that. Blame it on whatever you want but the fact remains we have not improved with JG at QB. I am not saying he is a bad kid. I am simply saying he is a bad QB.I know the JG bashers hate facts.

Shrout is a turnover waiting to happen if practice is any indication of how he would play. Maurer is inconsistent, but he's probably the guy you go with. Hate it for JG. He's got all the physical talent needed and I have defended him because of the poor protection last season...but he's had plenty of time to throw this season and isn't getting it done. I'm not going to bash the kid. The entire situation sucks for everyone.
I agree 100 percent. He had plenty of time tonight to throw and missed at least two touchdowns by holding on to the ball. He is not an sec quarterback, and yes give JJ ALL of the credit for the two touchdownsJG had time tonight and still could not get it done. He got bailed out at least twice by JJ. Good kid, not an SEC QB
JT Shroud sucks too. Maurer or bust.. only kid who has that cockiness and attitude you need it a QB... Oh bad he looked the best in the spring. For enduring the hits and criticism that comes with managing a team with a woeful Offensive line. You may find more success in the future with a line that can give you time to make reads.
But that ain’t us. And that ain’t you. And that ain’t now.
JT Shroud, come on down.
Tennessee football: More stats favoring Jarrett Guarantano slam Vols OL
As I’ve said all along he is much better than some of you guys say or think. If the scouts are correct then Oregon quarterback Justin Herbert will be in the NFL draft. According to the sports source this morning in four categories Guarantano was better in three of them and tied the other.
Give this guy time and he will a top qb in the SEC.

We are literally just 2 games into the season. Cheerleaders are on the sideline. Players play the game. If you need a few games off after 2 games into the season you have no business playing. He is tough as nails and a very good kid. He has taken way to many massive shots. He needs a breather and a reset for a couple of games.
I supported J G ever since we signed him. I thought he would develop into a very good SEC QB. However, it appears tha he has regressed from his play from his play last year. Even through we do not have a QB on the team that has taken a college football snap, I feel we have to get some playing from our other scholarship QBs. If we don,t, we will start play next year with VERY inexperienced QBs unless we can get a good graduate transfer. Need to bite the bullet and play the better athletes and win the last half of the season this year and be better prepared for next year. I still and will continue to support our football team and program. We do have some shortages of talent and experience at a number of positions. Gaining experience is a must. It will be painful, but it will pay off in the future and we can not afford to start over every 4 years. He’s just not good. Nothing wrong with saying it. He’s tough, but he sucks as a QB.
