Jashon Robertson to start at RG

No but it normally takes a player longer than that to settle into an entirely new position. They don't typically get moved over and in 2 weeks be named the starter. I figured they were moving Jashon over to the OL to provide some depth. I never expected him to outright win the starting position over Coleman Thomas. I can't see how he could even be familiar enough with the offense to earn the starting position that quickly.

You're gonna get painted as a Debbie Downer, but I agree with you. While it does speak volumes to Jashon's work ethic, measurables, and ability, it is a little concerning that a true True Freshman could win a starting OL job so quickly.

That said, we already knew our woes in the trenches, and we already knew we'd possibly be starting Freshmen at key positions, so it's not surprising...

It's easy to be super pumped right before Football Time In Tennessee; I think a lot of us are forgetting that no matter how talented we are and how positive things are looking long-term, we're still gonna have some short term bumps in the road.

I don't think anybody FORGETS that...we've all experienced the last four years. :pinch:

So that leaves Kerbyson, Blair, Gilliam and Coleman Thomas as tackles as 1/2 deep tackles. I'm guessing Blair claims LT late but Gilliam gets plenty of reps as well.

If at all possible, Coleman Thomas and Raulerson can redshirt. Wiesman will be the number one backup for Guard/Center.

Now we just need to get Charles Moseley rehabbed and in shape for 2015 as he will make a monstrous tackle...and Richmond!!!!!

Personally I'm choosing to believe Jashon is just a total bad a$$. That has got to be why he won the starting job just after being moved over two weeks ago, right? Until prove other wise, that's what I'm going with.

Yes, Brave Volunteer is always negative, but that doesn't mean he is always wrong. It is a little disconcerting that a newcomer would take over so soon. But Thomas is a freshman learning to play tackle and now we can put Kyler out there as CT develops. My biggest concern is one or two injuries in some areas and we could be toast. There will be injuries so I am sticking with 6 wins with a possible 7th.

Some guys just have "it". Feet, leverage, reads, leg strength, ability to pull, when to block down and when to find the linebacker. Sounds like Jashon has whatever "it" may be for a guard.

I don't believe we have enough players to even think about a redshirt even though Raulerson and Kendrick should probably sit this year. Injuries will happen. They always do.

Can the full depth chart be found online yet or at least the starters? I though CBJ said that the starters would be announced on Monday yet I haven't seen nor heard of anything.

Where's the rest of the depth charts? I'm so anxious to see the full depth charts announced. Robertson has proven that he's the right one in camp. Congrads to him!

There is an unofficial depth chart on this page from Christian Lundy, son of deceased former Knoxville Journal and Knoxville News Sentinel sports writer.

Christian is a young budding journalist starting his career. He's been to practices this year and does a good job in coverage. He has a Twitter account @C_Lundy1.

A little worried about this one.....we have to have a solid kicker for the opener. :) :) :) :) :) :)

He will be out there a lot!:dance2:

Agree, but I think we need two kickers for sure. One kicker won't be able to handle all those extra points and kickoffs by himself. Leg fatigue wii set in by the third quarter, IMO.:good!:

Does a friend of Gary's count in your book?

If I wanted to bring some info that another poster was curious about (depth chart) and it happened to be from the son of someone I called a friend before he passed way too young, then what do you have to say?

Maybe the emergence of Barnett, Hendrix along with a daily dose of Maggitt, Lewis, and Vereen this fall got the coaches nervous as they watched a true FR out in space. Once JR revealed that he could sub for KK, then that have them the green light to get a veteran out there. Just wondering out loud here.

I'll never forget 1990, when Todd Kelley and Horace Morris just abused UF's true freshman RT. What scared me is that kid ended up being 1stTeam AllSEC later on. Indicated to me that no matter how talent a FR tackle is he's not ready to handle SEC beasts in space.

One thing that does appear for sure is that this means we have better depth and options on the OL.

Don't let it bother you. There is a smartass response to every post here. I read Gary back in the day. Enjoyed his writing. He seemed like he was a really good guy.

Should we be nervous or excited about this guy being a true freshman, and just switching to offense a couple of weeks ago, and now he's beaten out other guys who have been at that position for a long time? Not sure if he's that good, or if the others are that bad.

Thanks Wilson, he was a great guy. I'm proud of Christian and I know Gary is too.
