Jaylen McCollough arrested

Something rather important missing that none of us knows about this mess.

Who the heck is the other male that was with Tank’s gf Ryan at the bottom of the stairs trying to assist when Zion came to?
Mentioned but not named in the KPD report so likely not on scene to be interviewed by PD when they showed up.
Could this be a team member who was hanging out with them, saw it all go down and has talked to coach and perhaps that is why coach is waiting on a decision about Tank?

I for one am glad our coach is waiting until things get clarified and that he’s not making an impulse decision based on initial information about Tank’s situation.

Something else we don’t know is where Tank was, who he spoke with and what occurred in the almost 6 hours between when KPD arrived on scene and when he walked back to be arrested.

Seems there is so much more to this situation than just the initial information presented that so many have used to already convict Tank.

Not knowing all details or if narrative about going into apartment of accused is correct but if true ..Good attorney will have this go away. Mitigating factor is The alleged victim wrongly entered accused dwelling while accused was minding own business . Would wait this week to see how this one pans out. If CJH says today we are looking into what happened, this most likely will be pleaded down or dropped ( $ ) . If he is tossed today, they have the whole story and are confident in sources.
Well we just go the 'Need to find out more information "quote in CJH pressor. Will be a wait and see this week. If not suspended tomorrow, i believe there are conflicting stories

This may well be the case but it's simply not the way things are

Even the ex-President said "if you're not guilty why take the 5th?"

It's a very bad look and leads to speculation. If I'm him and a drunk comes into my house and starts s*** I'm making sure everyone I know knows that's what happened.
You’re not him though. You have no idea how he was raised or what kind of interactions he’s had with law enforcement.

Again a lot of what you’ve said I would be on the same page with but some ppl have justified suspicion of the police. Always better to allow your attorney to protect your rights.

Again not all law enforcement is your friend. There are plenty of great cops out there. There are a few that just want to resolve things as quickly as possible even if that means taking you to jail. Open your mouth with the wrong one and it can ruin your life.
all cops are the friends of college students man

And that’s a problem. A problem that needs to be changed. Jaylen knows his rights. Good for him. Don’t talk to the cops. Nothing good comes from it. They aren’t your friends.

Jalen did one thing right, didn't say a word, we'll hear all his statements from his counsel.

Yeah, he did the smart thing in not speaking. Given the little that is available, I do not see how a jury convicts on this. This is also not like he went out looking for trouble somewhere. At most, I would think a good lawyer could get this to a low misdemeanor plea.

He certainly could have handled it better but right now, all we have is what the guy who got punched said. Any chance that he may not have been entirely forthcoming and truthful in his testimony?

So I dont think this will ruin him, the question is whether he will stay on the team. No doubt he is unlikely to play this Saturday though.

May not even see a jury. This probably gets kicked unless there is more to it than we’ve seen. A video of this might change everything, as stated right now I doubt the DA even wastes time on it.

I know what kinds of interactions I'VE had with LE and none of 'em were "good". The absolute best one was when I was a witness to an accident and the cop mostly just ignored me.

I'd still make sure the first thing out of my mouth would be to proclaim my innocence. Not do my best impression of a rock.....

Every bit of that may well be true, with one caveat....

I'm pretty sure there was a point during the whole kerfuffle when he could have simply locked the door and gone back to whatever it was he was doing rather than throwing hands with some drunk fool.....

If it turns out said "drunk fool" waltzed in and started being belligerent (as he may well have been, I'd be pretty belligerent if I walked into what I thought was MY apartment and found random people sitting on my couch watching my TV and eating my food) then McCullough was completely in the right to rough dude up and toss him out the door.

But here's the question I can't quite wrap my head around.... Why wouldn't that be the very. first. thing. he told the cops when they got there? I get the whole "clam up, it's the cops" attitude but in the above instance?

If that's what happened (above) I'm telling the cops, the neighbors, calling my position coach and telling him, calling Coach Heupel and telling him, calling my boss (if he has a job outside of school) and telling him / her, calling..... I think you get the point.

Exercising his right to remain silent just seems fishy at best.....

Not if that’s what he was told to do in the hours that passed between the incident and his arrest.

Incident around 3:30 pm and booked/served at 9:14 pm.

Even good cops are always trained to look for probable cause while they interact with you, even if you don’t think you did anything wrong. The best advice as has been mentioned it to simply not interact with them aside from giving them personal information and letting a lawyer deal with the rest.

i mean there’s a good chance this just gets swept under the rug anyway.

I got pulled over on Rutledge pike at the intersection of mag and Rutledge headed away from town after a cop flashed his headlights at me so thinking he wanted by and got over then when he slowed down with me I got back in lane. He pulled me over for swerving. Asked why I was in that part of town at that time of night (it was late and I was headed home from a friends) he looked hard in my car trying to find something and then just ended up telling me my license plate light was out and let me go.

Cops are trained to catch you slipping. Don’t ever talk to them.

Edit: he also had the audacity to ask why I “swerved”

Normally yes, but it’s Bama week so I fully expect the media to pump this for as much mileage and as many clicks as they can get out of it.

It'll be interesting if the complex has security cameras, they probably cover the stairwells.
It was interesting that the police report said he "punched" him - not "punched him several times"
The report didn't indicate, but my wife heard that the blood and teeth were found on the stairs which might indicate it wasn't the punch that did the damage.

100% agree. Hope I'm never in this position, but if I am, I'm following the advice on the back of my USCCA card, and I'm not messing with any of the investigation scene.

If he's innocent of any wrongdoing and that's what he was told then he's been done a disservice

His chance to get out in front of this has passed. And that time frame kinda bugs me, too....

6 hours? If I felt like someone had threatened me to the point I had to knock some teeth outta some fools mouth I think I'd go ahead and call the cops right then, myownself. I mean, I guess he may have considered the matter "closed" after he turned dude's lights off, but.....

The best thing anyone can do when they get arrested is say I want a lawyer. Then say absolutely nothing else.

You might do that but not everyone feels like the cops have their backs and a lot of them don’t.

Do you think talking is going to prevent you from going to jail? Bc it’s not. When they come to arrest you, they’re going to arrest you. Nothing you say is going to help you. Think about the Miranda rights they read you. They’re telling you at that point to STFU for your own good.

“You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in the court of law. You have the right to attorney. If you cannot afford one, one will be provided for you. Do you understand the rights I have just read to you? With these rights in mind do you still wish to speak with me?”

Let me break this down for you in laymens terms:

“STFU. No seriously STFU! STFU and get a lawyer. If you’re too broke to afford a lawyer one will be given to you. Comprehende? With all of what I’ve said in mind are you a big enough Fing idiot to still talk to me?”

We see videos of thugs kicking the $h!t out of innocent people on a daily basis, and 100% of those A Holes are literally let go by the police. Has anyone heard what's going on in just New York? Our guy has some drunk trespass into his home then dispatches the law breaking drunk. We are seriously worried about him? Give me a MFing break! I am so tired of the double standard in this society that I want to puke. I hope they drop the charges immediately!

Yeah, sure, I understand every bit of that and actually agree with it

IF YOU KNOW YOU'RE GUILTY OF AT LEAST SOMETHING IN THE MATTER AT HAND

Otherwise? You do know cops have a huge amount of leeway in these things.... If he's completely innocent and calls the cops it's likely none of us hear any more of it than, "there was an incident, he was immediately cleared, the guilty party is in jail" and that'd be the end of it and he goes back about his business. Stuff would leak out eventually but knowing that he had been cleared of any wrongdoing immediately no one would pay much mind.

All this does is make it look like he's got something to hide

GhostVol you again are making factual assumptions without having all the facts. Teeth could have been knocked out by the fall down the steps. You are basing everything on what was reported several hours after it happened by:
1. Someone who was intoxicated at 3 pm Sunday afternoon to the point that he did not know which building he just came out of.
2. Someone who was unconscious for a period of time due to a blow to the face, a fall down a flight of stairs, a combination of both, or something else. That in and of itself is cause for memory deficits.
3. Someone who, several hours later, told his "story" to police. If his "story" was supported (corroborated) by other witnesses, the incident/arrest report would have likely said so.
4. Someone who appears to be a Gator fan.
The "victim's" whole story has more holes than a block of swiss cheese. Tank did the correct thing keeping his mouth shut when it was obvious he was going to be arrested. You do not read someone their miranda rights unless they are being arrested. Note the report says he chose not to talk after being given his miranda warning. Him talking would not change him being arrested. It just would have given the police a chance to try get him to incriminate himself. You are naive to think otherwise.
