Jaylen Wright leaving?

The posters who are ok with opting out prob ably love this stuff. "Players gotta get their share" or some BS
Welcome to 2023 “college” football (and I use the term “college” very loosely). It’s the new normal. Get used to it. It’s strictly business now.

It might have something to do with Small being the 3rd best back on the team…but curiously getting the lions share of carries…for sure, Small is the slowest back we have.
Wright and Sampson are definitely better than Small! I'm surprised we haven't had any CB's enter the portal yet.

With all the other needs, why would they think getting Lloyd is priority? We need a third back but not a #1 back.
I agree, much rather see a bunch of quality DBs….but maybe they knew something was up? Hope he doesn’t leave, I like our backfield.

So now players want an endorsement contract for $$$ and also to tweak the fans all year about staying or going? good grief, we are in a bad place
The worse place was preventing people from being able to earn money off their name, image, and likeness. It maybe worse for football. But it's by far the right thing to do. Freaking unamerican to prevent it.

According to RC in tonight’s Recruiting Chat something is up here. He didn’t come out and say it, but his comments led you to believe that Wright will hit the portal. Just a matter of when.

maybe the kids getting money could “ pay their fare share” to the kids not contributing?

This is going to get worse. Most teams will be filled with short-term impatient mercenaries looking for a pay day. It will be a nightmare. Yes, and the "hey, guys should get their fair share" will be the first complaining.

I was worried about him leaving when we barely played him in the bowl game at the end. He had more yards with less rushes, but we kept putting in Small.

I saw a comment yesterday by a sports analyst (can't remember who it was) said over 60% of kids in the portal last year in all sports did not receive scholarship offers. And of course if they want to play somewhere...walking on is the only avenue. Once that negative impact becomes a social issue...it will be changed.

While I see that point, if these players are going to be pros and chase the dollar then we no longer have to treat them with kid gloves. Once they have chosen to go down that route, they are fair game for any criticism for their play or loyalty.

Yea, he had a tough time last year but did well this year. And as others noted, he would have been killer in Heupel’s offense.
6-7 is a whole lot worse than 11-2 and Orange Bowl champions though. He did have a great year stats wise.

Maybe he heard the coaches are targeting this guy?

Some discussion on the Clemson board about Mafah possibly hitting the portal tomorrow. Would be a take instantly.

I love our RB room, but with Wright possibly leaving (and requiring wrist surgery) and Small being a bit injury-prone (shoulder surgery, too), we don’t want to be left in a situation next season with only Sampson and freshman. Weren’t there also a few rumblings Sampson was feeling homesick, too?

I was against taking Lloyd from USC because I felt we were okay at RB, but these new developments have me open to taking a portal player at that position. Would definitely want Mafah over Lloyd, though.
