In the open field, the Wright and Sampson ARE faster. 6-10yard burst after the snap?? Small is probably quicker than both, and despite not being a big back, the bulk of his carries are off tackle right up the gut and he routinely moves the pile turning what would be 1-2 yards into 4-5 yards. Small ALWAYS gets the "plus 2" yards after contact that coaches love.

^^^ thats the 2nd biggest reason he gets the most carries. The 1st and most important reason is because he excels in pass protection. Hell, even freshman Sampson is better than Wright. Even in limited carries vs Clemson, i watched a defender run RIGHT past Wright who was standing to the left and 2 steps in front of Milton JUST to be an extra blocker. Wright nearly rubbed shoulder pads against the guy running right past him untouched for a drive killing sack. THOSE are the drive killers that keep Wright on the bench despite his ample talent. A missed assignment like that due to a lack of focus resulting in a drive killer sack is no different than Milton throwing a pick 40yards down field....both plays guarantee zero points for us, while giving the ball back to the other team 40yds down field. Coach Hype even said in fall camp that pass protection was what keeps the other RBs off the field....

Smalls gets more reps than Wright and Samson because Smalls takes care of the ball, does what he's supposed to do and he's a much better blocker in pass coverage. I hope Wright and Samson will work harder on the little things so they can start to get more reps b/c both are faster and better running backs than Smalls.

The portal is so overhyped. Folks act like every player in it is golden. When in fact most aren’t. Not that you can’t get good players now and then you can. But some just act like every portal player is gold when that couldn’t be further from the truth. GBO

Really does. I hope players don’t read this stuff. He’s our best back, he’s improved so much from last season, he had some fumbles at the beginning of the season but people choose to remember those over how he was one of the key parts to gaining momentum against Clemson and helping us pull away.

I question calling anyone a Tennessee fan that trashes players based on a quote that could have meant anything. It’s pathetic. Thank goodness true Volnation extends far beyond any message board. GBO!

Yes, fans need to back off. Need to keep in mind these players should expect it with these cryptic tweets. Little doubt his tweets have to do with football. He’s fishing. Sometimes you catch more than you bargain for.

That’s fine. But I can spend less and still go to the big games if I want or a couple in a skybox with friends. I support the student athletes and do not just buy tickets. They are quickly becoming pros for pay. NIL is fine when you earn it like Hooker did. Basketball lost me with one and dones. We root for a school team that’s not really a school team. You are just a dumb azz.
