Female employees at CNN are furious that chief spokesperson Allison Gollust is keeping her job after lying about her affair with newly resigned CEO Jeff Zucker “for years,” sources told The Post.

“Why is she allowed to keep her job, when she was promoted while sleeping with the boss?” a CNN insider railed.

“CNN is supposed to be a transparent news network. How does she get away with lying about their affair for so long?”

Gollust released a statement shortly after saying that she and Zucker had been professional colleagues for over 20 years but their relationship “changed during COVID.”

One insider called the comments “a total lie.”

“No one thinks the punishment fits the crime,” one CNN executive told The Daily Beast of Zucker’s departure over an office romance.

The immediate reactions from within CNN ranged from shock to outrage.

“People are pissed” about Zucker’s ouster, one CNN executive told The Daily Beast. “No one thinks the punishment fits the crime.”

“Notice Zucker mentioned how this came from the Cuomo investigation,” said a senior CNN source. “People think this is clearly Cuomo dragging down Zucker on his way out.” (Cuomo was fired by the network late last year after it was revealed he dug up dirt on the women who accused his brother, former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, of sexual misconduct. A “livid” Cuomo was reportedly “prepping” to sue the network.)

“Jeff Zucker is gone—congratulations to all!” former president Donald Trump wrote in a giddy statement celebrating Zucker’s exit.

“The guy who arguably made Trump president is resigning under disgrace,” one CNN staffer told The Daily Beast, referring to the common criticism that Zucker—via his previous role as an NBC executive overseeing Trump’s reality TV shows and then as CNN chief overseeing the incessant coverage of Trump’s 2016 campaign—effectively created a destructive media force that became president.

Zucker’s sudden exit comes just as CNN’s parent company WarnerMedia is about to merge with Discovery following a spinoff from AT&T.

“People think this is clearly Cuomo dragging down Zucker on his way out.”-you mean HR doing their job when information is withheld or not answered truthfully but exposed when information comes out while investigating Cuomo.

My question is how secret was this? I can't imagine that there weren't indications and rumors within that circle, including HR. Not many workplace romances are "hidden"

I am guessing it was common knowledge but is being used as an excuse to give him a slightly less embarrassing exit. CNN could not give the real reason (our ratings are less than some home shopping channels) without acknowledging that their entire business model is wrong. Rule # 29, Liberals may be misunderstood, misquoted, or use a poor choice of words…..but they are NEVER ever ever WRONG.
