Jermod McCoy is the best corner since....? And the best overall DB since....?

A two-part question obviously. I think he's a better corner than Alontae or Bryce Thompson (both of who were excellent corners for us) by a wide margin. Who have we had in the last decade+ thats been better?

To that same note, who have we had in the defensive backfield at all since Eric Berry that's as good as McCoy?

He’s the best CB I’ve seen since following TN.
He looks for the ball. Great hands. Really good hands. He can tackle! Great return skills! Fast.
He’s got to be close to high 4.3s. Long wingspan and he’s 6’0 at that.

Best DB since Eric Berry. Best CB since ever??? I'm too young to remember Tennessee football before 2001. But I would say he's the best since then. Only guy in the convo with him is Cam Sutton and I think he's proven to be better thus far.

Also it should be noted that Rickey Gibson isn't too far behind him either. Rickey is behind Cam Sutton as the 3rd best CB since '01.

After next year, he's probably a first round, maybe top 10 pick so idk man it's been decades since there's been a corner of this caliber on this team

Sutton! I knew I was forgetting a huge name in there somewhere. Yes as of this very moment, I think McCoy is better than Sutton.

And that is a huge huge statement from me. I was a massive Sutton fan.

Best DB Since Berry for sure, I cant remember the last time we've had a corner literally shutdown one side of the field like he has.
Williams pretty much only did anything when he was on opposite side of the field including the 1 touchdown he got.

He'll be a top 10 pick when he declares at this rate.

Sutton was legit, he still leads Tennessee all time in passes defended. Plus, he was a great punt returner. I'm not ready to put McCoy over him yet, but it's certainly those two over everyone else with Taylor being 3rd. Theo Jackson's senior year was also fantastic, but he wasn't a true corner.

Cam Sutton has never been a great cover corner. Overall, Sutton isn't in the conversation as one of our best DBs ever. Certainly not near the top ten anyway. McCoy is in another league better than Sutton

Jermod was a transfer portal home run for us. Jermod‘s touchdown saving interception against Bama was one of the plays that won us the game.

Eric Berry has already been inducted to the College Football Hall of Fame. McCoy has been stellar and I think Cam Sutton is a good comparison at this point, only because Cam has been our best DB since Berry. Berry was technically a safety, but in terms of the secondary as a whole, then yes.....

Sutton was great against the pass, but truly exceptional against the run. Played like a giant for his stature. Was also a great punt returner. Unfortunately Sutton was almost a one man show on horrible Vols teams. Not taking anything away from McCoy individually, but look at the defensive front and LBs McCoy is playing with.

i'd say sutton. eric berry is legendary status and his contributions may never be equaled.

The secondary as a whole is good. This is a solid, complete D. It is the first one I can remember for many years. It is the deepest D particularly on the DL I can remember anyone having except maybe a couple of those UGA and Bama teams.
