Jermod McCoy is the best corner since....? And the best overall DB since....?

Terry McDaniel in the Sugar Bowl 86
and was in on of the best calls I heard John Ward make, I think it was against Miss St in a regular season game, Terry tracked down the ball carrier and stripped the ball.

Doesn't matter. Reggie White and John Henderson played two different positions and anyone who tries to claim Henderson was better than Reggie would be insane.

Reggie White and Eric Berry are on a different level from any other defensive players to ever play at Tennessee. They are on a different level plain and simple.
Yes, it does matter. The difference in White's and Henderson's positions isn't close to that of a SS and cover corner. Cover corner is what this thread is about and you don't know what you're talking about. It's a complete denial of pertenent nuance on your behalf. Your informed perspective is limited to generalities.

They might be that right now. And don't forget Boo Carter. Freshman All-American easily.
Boo is indeed coming on strong.

Harrison was solid at STAR at times this year so far, but Boo has taken kind of strangle hold on it. Thankfully. Now the question is…what if Thomas never got hurt??

We have him for another year also!

Hopefully 2 years. You can bet hes gonna get bigger NIL money...and he already gets a big check IMO because lots of bigtime schools were bidding for his services because he was a freshman All American at Oregon State last year. He is gonna make a lot of $$$ in his career. So glad he is a VOL. He will be a team leader next season too on defense. We have Gibson at the other corner as well as both Carter brothers back next season. All of our current playing LBs back (not Pili sadly). We will have a good defense again next season 😀

Not sure what his NIL is but that was money damn well spent. He's the best since Berry for sure. That pick in the endzone the other day was fantastic. Played his man then turned around and took the ball.

A two-part question obviously. I think he's a better corner than Alontae or Bryce Thompson (both of who were excellent corners for us) by a wide margin. Who have we had in the last decade+ thats been better?

To that same note, who have we had in the defensive backfield at all since Eric Berry that's as good as McCoy?

I'll hang up and listen.
I’m open to other opinions but he might number one. He’s so physical. What a get by Tennessee

An underrated guy in our secondary is Jakobe Thomas. He makes at least one big tackle every game. Against Alabama he had that huge tackle for loss near the red zone. He's so fast and violent. Perfect run stopping safety. With a year of eligibility remaining I can see him being a star for us next year with Will Brooks leaving.

I mean he has played 6 games....Comparing him to any past DB's is a tad premature. Those guys talking about he looks back don't know what they are talking about that's scheme not the DB. That is based on the coverage you're in. If you are manned up with no one over the top you watch the WR its easier to tell from his body cues when the ball is coming than looking back and he loses you on a double move. People need to realize these guys have very limited peripheral vision in helmets. You look back for the ball you totally lose the receiver.

Janzen Jackson was a safety, not a CB, but he had elite talent.

Can’t forget about Inky either.

(EB goes without saying…)

I was thinking about this on Sunday. I came up with Sutton and Berry. Elite company. McCoy = Baller
