Jermod McCoy is the best corner since....? And the best overall DB since....?

Bryce was probably better than Alontae because you could play press man with him more. I'd put McCoy probably right behind Sutton. Sutton was very good.

Can Sutton. Teams literally stopped throwing to his side of the field because there was a good possibility of it getting picked off. And we all saw what he did as a return man. He owns the school record for passes defended.

He’s the best CB I’ve seen since following TN.
He looks for the ball. Great hands. Really good hands. He can tackle! Great return skills! Fast.
He’s got to be close to high 4.3s. Long wingspan and he’s 6’0 at that.

Yeah he’s the best DB since Berry.
This sums up my thoughts. It’s not often that you come across a lock down corner who lays the wood and has hands good enough to be the teams punt returner.

Hard to believe he’s a true sophomore.

I am not sure where McCoy lines up all time but he his first half performance against BAMA has to be one of the greatest of all time. He single handedly kept is in that game IMO.

Best DB since Eric Berry. Best CB since ever??? I'm too young to remember Tennessee football before 2001. But I would say he's the best since then. Only guy in the convo with him is Cam Sutton and I think he's proven to be better thus far.

Also it should be noted that Rickey Gibson isn't too far behind him either. Rickey is behind Cam Sutton as the 3rd best CB since '01.
Jason Allen played corner here before moving to safety and was a 1st round pick. Played corner in the League. Jabari Greer was pretty good too.

And we get them both back for at least another year

He’s terrific. And the overall play by the entire DB crew has been outstanding and the improvement since last year is stunning

Honestly, McCoy looks better than Sutton. I think he's our best CB since I don't know when.

I'll get flamed here for this, but Alontae Taylor was overrated when he was here. Wasn't a bad player, but was overrated. Never thought he lived up to his potential, which could have been coaching. He had that blazing fast 40 time at the combine but never seemed to play that fast.

We have had some good Dbs over the years. The best? Eric Berry with 5 pro bowl appearances. Terry McDaniel also with 5 pro bowl appearances. Dale Carter with 4 pro bowl appearances...and Bert Rechichar with 3 pro bowl appearances. I remember all, but Bert R, and I must say, they were each amazing players for the Vols, and what’s more, great VFLs. GBO!

Eric Berry has already been inducted to the College Football Hall of Fame. McCoy has been stellar and I think Cam Sutton is a good comparison at this point, only because Cam has been our best DB since Berry. Berry was technically a safety, but in terms of the secondary as a whole, then yes.....

Sutton was great against the pass, but truly exceptional against the run. Played like a giant for his stature. Was also a great punt returner. Unfortunately Sutton was almost a one man show on horrible Vols teams. Not taking anything away from McCoy individually, but look at the defensive front and LBs McCoy is playing with.
Fair assessment
