Jerod Askew!

LB Chesapeake (Va.) Oscar Smith
"Askew is a fire hydrant, built like a brick house. Plays downhill. I can't wait to see him go live. He wants to go after it. He is going to make big plays against the run on Friday night." – coach Anthony Williams
From rivals. More updates about the game later but I heard he caused a fumble.

Kiffin visited with Jerod and he liked kiffin a lot. He is ready to come and compete. Sounds good to me!!!

i hope he is able to keep the exclamation point at the end of his name on his jersey. The play is blown up by Askew!

Great news. He he has been one of the more quiter recruits through the entrie process.
Jusdging by that seems like a dependable patient kid

"Coach Kiffin is a cool guy. Very cool," said the four-star linebacker from Oscar Smith High School and Vols commitment. "I thought he would come in all cocky, but he was very humorous. We talked defense, he said I was a great fit for that defensive scheme. I looked at the way he did it on the board and there's no problem, no way I can't play with that defense."

"Even though coach Scott didn't know if he was leaving or not, he called me almost daily and stayed in tune on coach Kiffin and how he felt about everything," said Askew, who closed his sparkling career with 130-tackle season, including 14 tackles in Oscar Smith High School's state title win. "He let me know all that before I even met (Kiffin). It's a great feeling that coach Scott put me in.

"Coach Scott, I trust him. That's most important thing with your recruiting coach. I really trust him. He keeps it real on a daily basis, and I just can feel that connection."

If Scott is not retained then I wish him the best of luck. Class act.

Agreed, never heard of Scott pulling a Drayton and telling recruits to look at other options. I wish Scott the best of luck wherever he lands.

Rivals lists his GPA at 4.7---typo or AP classes?

has anyone heard about his SPARQ rating?

he got a 115.38 last April.

(SPARQ stands for Speed, Power, Agility, Reaction, and Quickness for anyone unfamiliar with it.)

it's becoming increasingly popular amongst coaches/scouts.

article link: cPanel®

however, I entered his combine stats with his current weight and he scored a 117.3

which gives him a 100% not just in his class of '09 and his LB position, but all classes/all years for football.

you can enter data here & view Sparq scores---

That's a man.

Sounds like this kid has his priorities in order. It's nice to see these kids do well in their academics as well as sports, good for him!

there are schools that do the 5 point scale instead of the 4 point scale. Just a thought. Still pretty darn good.

I'll be happy when this guy faxes in his LOI. We really need him. He hasn't gotten much pub recently, but he could prove to be one of the biggest signings of this entire class.

I got a little scared when I seen his name pop up to the top of the board.

Sorry, AV, he had been bumped all the way to page 3 I think and I thought he wasn't being talk about enough. I think he's going to be one of the next great Vol LB's.
